I had someone at work ask me, "what in the world do they look like when you undo them?" So I showed her
Or "They look like they need to be tied."

I'm so confused by this. Why would she care so much? It's odd to me that someone would have a problem with you dressing sharply.

Or you could work up a sort of, "inflatable man suddenly deflating after bow tie has been pulled loose" routine...

Has anyone purchased ties from The Cordial Churchman, and what can you say about quality if you have?
I have not, but he is mentioned on a couple of other fora I visit and the comments are always positive. NB: the ties are made by the wife of a presbyterian minister, who himself sports a bow tie and seems more trad or preppy (in the best sense of the word) than vintage.
A no-name tie, with a label guaranteeing "100% Acetate" construction. Skinnier than I'm used to, but I like to think it slims me.
I think it's only a southern California chain, but Stein Mart is carrying some Rooster brand bows at $14.99. That's one of the brands I see at Nordstrom rack, for about the same price.
