The book I ever had signed by an author was Nicholas Hornby's Fever Pitch. As an Arsenal supporter talking to him at the signing was very fun. He is really easy to talk to and down to earth.
I missed Neal Stephenson's signing for Anathem when he was here in town and I was sad about that.
Such cool stories. I have a few, but my favorite signed book is unfortunately not Golden Era. Some may even say it's not technically a book. When the Baby Blues newspaper cartoon became popular, I went to a signing for the cartoonists' first compilation book. The flyleaf of my copy is embellished with a hand drawn Baby Zoe under Kirkland and Scott's autographs, drawn right before my eyes. Fun!
I just received a signed copy of Son of Harpo Speaks, by Bill Marx (Harpo's eldest son). Even better, he's taken to calling me Bretto (my name is Brett) in our email exchanges.
I have a few of my Peter Corris "Cliff Hardy" books signed, a paperback based on an old British Sci-fi TV series called Blakes 7 titled "Afterlife" which is signed by Tony Attwood who was one of the writers of the novels, and a book by Cory Doctorow called "Eastern Standard Time".
