Bogarts hat in "The Big Sleep"

I just finished watching it yesterday and I must say that was a very cool hat. Is there anyone who knows where I can find one like this? Or is there another thread on it? Do they even make hats like that anymore? Its puts my current hat to shame-its hard to look at it anymore. However, it has been everywhere with me. Sorry to ramble.

Call Lee Keppler at 619 647- 6747. Tell him Daniel Riser recommended his Bogart model.

I believe Brad Bowers on this board owns a Bogart Keppler. It's the closest I've seen for an "off the shelf" hat.

Regards,

Dan

P.S. "Off the Shelf" does not mean he has them in stock, it's a standard design that he has had made by his hatter. He is famous for his Indiana Jones fedoras.

Movie hats.

I see some really sweet lids in most movies from the 30's to the 40's and well, as cool as they look I find it hard to find the right hat that looks like the ones in the films. Some I have look close because they're from the era the movie was made (buying vintage helps) but, I want to know where all those smooth tall crowned early to late 30's fedoras are! They are so hard to find.

But, if you want something to look like a hat from a movie from the 40's, Dan's info is good. Go with that but, also keep an eye for a vintage Stetson or Borsalino that's from the 40's. You can block a vintage hat to look much like the one Bogie has and you'll love the results.

All the best of luck,

Root.

Hi Root,

I've actually kept the impromptu 30s block you put on my grey Citation and it looks great. I used to wear a C crown but I now really like the "line down the centre" crease. I've put the on a Stetson 25 open road style and the results are awesome.

Thanks again.

Mr. 'H'.

Look at my hat in my profile pic. That is a late 30s Borsalino that reblocked and the brim cut to make a Bogey, in my opinion it's a very close Maltese Falcon hat.
