It's about all those body-things you're worried no one else has, or worries about. Pains, lumps, normal=strange, it's all in there, debunking myths that the media presents us girls.

It also talks about how models are airbrushed and such, and women shouldn't compare ourselves to them or feel bad about our bodies.
I think it would be a great book for young girls.

I think the best way for girls and women to learn about themselves is by doing what we are doing--talking in a forum with other women. Women of all ages, races, nationalities, backgrounds, this is better than any book. I've been on 'girly forums' for years & I've told it all, and heard it all, and asked it all. I have no problem talking about the agony caused by my Diva Cup, to fretting about late periods (and being advised what to do to hurry one up, which I already knew anyway ;) ), and heaven only knows what else I've gabbed about.

And new exciting uses for Listerine! Safeguard your daintiness!
But seriously, if this book stops one young lady from becoming anorexic or depressed because she isn't "perfect", it will be great, But I think it will help many.
Our Bodies Ourselves was the book for my generation, and ever so helpful.

I just checked out her website, and it's great! She's a funny lady. I can't believe the v****** d******* calendar. It's good that she talks about it all so frankly.

I don't think that any book can help someone from becoming anorexic or depressed, that's by far more complex than most people think, unfortunately....

I am always afraid to ask questions in forums though. I don;t like people knowing just how limited my knowledge on certain subjects is.

I kinda feel the same way about asking information or whatnot. It's the fact that anybody could see what is posted except for certain parts of this forum.

I think most girls don't realize how airbrushed everything is and most aren't told by their parents about it. Most (75% or so) of the young ladies I know have had eating disorders one way or another. I really hope more parents are talking to their children about this subject because if they don't.......who will?
