I kind of liked Hairspray and Cry-Baby, but Pink Flamingos had little redeeming value. Had Divine... taken the script a little less seriously, so to put it, a lot less people would be talking about this film, I think.

I still remember watching the film at uni, then it hit 'that' scene with Divine right at the end and thinking: 'Right, well, that's 90 minutes of my life I'm not getting back'. I do like John Walters, he makes me laugh whenever I see or hear him. He's like a really disreputable David Sedaris, who is one of my favourite essayists.

There are those who sniff at Hairspray, particularly the musical redux (granted, Travolta was weak - if only Fiernstein had agreed to take the role! Though Walken was a revelation playing so far against type....), but, I ask you.... where else in the mainstream do you see the fat kid and the drag queen getting the best roles??

Cry Baby is a work of genius. It's simply the film Elvis should have made.... It was supposed to be coming to the stage in the wake of Hairspray's success, but I gather it was held up as they wante to use the same songs, and gettnig the rights was proving a nightmare....

I still want John Waters to write a road-trip film starring himself and Steve Buscemi as father and son....

There are those whose reverence of style is rooted in means to achieve an end; to create a look to serve a purpose, catering to the inescapable desire to use fashion to self-elevate and validate, whilst a silent minority, namely the FL crowd, value style and fashion for the virtues embodied on style's own merit, focusing more on reverence of the product and cordiality with like-minded enthusiasts than reverence of one's self and place on the social hierarchy of fashion norms.

I could never had said it better! Truth is that it's not others' opinion of me that I am seeking, just instead to wear something I treasure, and enjoy it with other like-minded folks. Nick, very well stated and keep it up!

I think that was for PPpromo shots; in the film, he rides a customised Triumph Thunderbird.

Off screen, in 1970, Brando bought himself an flh Electroglide.. .

Never really looked at this image before, I always thought Brando's hat was pale blue. Must have been a hand coloured B/W print.
I've run across several colour photos and the cap is always that tan colour, and the rest of the colouring is consistent too. I don't think all caps of the time would have been blue. I'm beginning to think he might have worn more than one jacket - perhaps a comparison of photos and the hand-painted "Johnny" letting might reveal something, ha ha

I own several Lost Worlds. Great jackets. Speed Demon style not recommended over a much more versatile cafe racer (Lost Worlds Easy Ryder in 3 oz horse-since you live in Florida) or a multi purpose classic like the Suburban, again in 3 oz, nothing heavier for day to day wear.
Cafe Racer (many top manufacturers) or a Lost Worlds Suburban would do.
