Big body, small bald head, lots of body hair...I must be one of the older model humans.

I joined the forum to make an informed decision on purchasing a hat. I'm a nursing home administrator in Hawaii and will be opening an Alzheimer's unit in several months. I'm collecting all kinds of working antiques to have in the place for the residents to use, remember, relate to and enjoy. I'm having a lot of fun and received today one of the war years Swingline staplers that had the wood base since metal was in short supply. It's going to go on a desk for the residents that will be outfitted with a beautiful Underwood No 5 typewriter, working candlestick phone, cast iron letter holder, cast iron rubber stamp holder. You get the idea and that's just the start of it.

Since we are trying so hard to accomodate their long term memory from the 1930's and 1940's I thought it would be nice if I had a cool hat that would bring back memories also.

I'll look forward to learning more.

Welcome Big Dave and good luck with your project. Much of my last year was spent in a facility that didn't care as much to try to accomodate memories as fill beds. My father was in and out of special care facilities that weren't all that special. My hat goes off to anyone with the compassion to try.
