Wearing it.
I've washed it, worn it, dried it, and basically never saw any wear on it. I think that to worry about it in the next 3-5 years is a waste of time.
That said, the usual stuff is probably still what most here use.

I can't speak about anything that's eighty years old,
however, my only eight year old goatskin still looks brand spanking new despite my wearing it regularly for about half of every year, which I attribute to my following my biker friends' advice to give it a thorough oiling once or twice a year.

I'm aware of all the usual treatments. I find Pecards very similar to Vaseline maybe with Lanolin added. For years I have sworn by Leatherique. Depending on the leather , but Goat is different. It doesn't respond to everything. I seem to recall recently there was discussion on Goatskin treatment and someone said Renapur was the way to go. I was wondering if anyone tried it.

Tried Langlitz proprietary conditioner on newer goatskin, could not tell the difference. Older goat, horsehide and steer hide seemed to make the leather slightly darker and richer looking for a while.
Looks like vasoline, beeswax, and one or two more things mixed up in a paste that melts when you rub with friction. Only thing they trust on their leather.

I've not treated my 1980's goat Cooper A-2 with anything.... other than my time wearing it and it still looks like new. Goat does not patina much if any at all over the years.

Yesterday, I was on the phone to Langlitz asking the same question. I just picked up a Langlitz goatskin jacket that looks to be about 40 years old, or with at least 40 years of wear. I ran the options of Lexol, Dr. Jackson's Rejuvenator...and they said either would be fine, and that Langlitz also sells a conditioner that would work.

My goat is three years and no treatment thus far. No leather milk, conditioner, whatsoever. Still looking brand new.

The OP is wanting treatment recommendations info for an 80 year old goat coat, fellers...
Renapur is my favorite. Bees wax / mineral oils instead of petroleum jelly. I treated this Goatskin 1943 AN-J-3a with it and it moisturized it well, wound up buttery soft: (Jacket is for sale as well =)

I guess it depends on the tanning. Chrome or veg tanned? I use a German product for my veg tanned goat jacket, Elephant Leather Preserver. It is completely synthetic, so no danger of going rancid. It is used to restore museum pieces, so it should be be good for vintage leather as well.

I've owned a number of goatskins jackets. Lexol seems easier to apply but they all effect the hide about the same. I also stay away form the rancid potential of natural products. Biggest mistake is to overuse Pecards.
