I have worn a pair of American-made elkskin gloves for two decades. I ride with them, drive with them, walk the dog with them, and go to the theatre with them. Can’t remember who made them, but I love elk skin and recommend this hide for your digits.

Ah thanks! My memory has failed after two decades. My first pair then was elk skin that were stolen off the motorcycle seat and these were the replacement… my memory got them turned around. They were the same brand, same style and same look… not sure if elk and deer hides are the same.

Deerskin is usually softer, elkskin tends to be a bit more robust and thicker yet at the same time seems to have a bit more pliable feel to it. Both are excellent leathers for gloves, though. Better than cowhide or horsehide, multiple glovemakers claim.

Wow. Those look amazing. I'm surprised at the choice of Velcro. I wouldn't have thought that It actually held in an accident.

i posted on here awhile back a review of some sullivan gloves i bought, maybe last summer? it had some pictures of the gloves and how they handled the whole thing. ive got crap service right now and ill see if i can post a link later, until then, it should be on my profile. from one of the first posts, sounds like theyre the same old garbage they were when i tried them. i definately do not recommend

churchill, on the other hand, makes an awesome glove. the make the langlitz gloves for them, the fox creek gloves, the other place in floridas gloves that was mentioned earlier, and a bunch of other gloves sold under different names. after the sullivan garbage, i ended up with a pair of awesome custom churchills. i dont have any pictures of them but theyre amazing. i did two tone black perforated back with grey palm, outseems, velcro wrist closure instead of elastic, and a short cuff in deerskin. hands down, 100%, awesome. if youve never tried an outseam glove theyre great and i highly recommend. the seams dont dig into your hands. i wouldnt have any issue trying other glove makers, but churchill has set the bar, high.

I need these.
Looks like someone just starting out in business. Randomly came up on Instagram, they have a Facebook too. No stock though and made to order. I wonder how he gets the fit right.

Wallets look cool too. I respect him for doing something different because there are so many people doing the exact same belts, wallets and most look well crafted but look about the same.

Yeah, it seems the velcro strap would come undone in a crash, but these feel very secure and I can’t imagine the gloves being pulled off… not even in an Evel Knievel wipeout.

Thanks. I found him on IG. I too like what he’s doing but custom horsehide gloves likely far exceed my budget.

Glove sizing is stranger than Japanese produced leather jackets. His pattern looks like he leaves a lot of room for error.

Several of my pairs of riding gloves with CE ratings, from A-Stars, Ixon etc, have velcro cuff fastenings. So I guess they must be considered safe.

Yeah, it seems to be very much a standard nowadays. I suppose in part because it's easier to deal with when gloved up than studs / zips/ buttons, maybe also the idea is something less that can dig in if you do land on it?

GT's stuff is excellent. Their bricks and mortar store also looks great - it's a relatively easy spot to get to (bit of a walk from the train station, but...); I'm hoping to go out for a look myself later in the year. Really good range of styles in their gloves; I think too, for anyone that cares about that sort of thing, they're the only company I've seen do these old-school gauntlets with an ECE PPE rating. EN something or other.

Yeah; won't be just yet, financially, but I definitely plan to keep an eye on those for an out of season sale at some point. I've had other gloves from Dents before, but never these beauties.

Chester Jeffries used to be one of my go-tos, have a couple of pairs in black leather, one fleece-lined, one red silk. Alas they no longer sell direct to the public, and only produce for wholesale. At one point they were going to go out of business entirely, so I'm guessing that the new business model is what kept the company alive.
I just bought the Gold Top tan wax fleece lined gauntlet gloves basically for the whole style. Always liked tan because matches brown and black leather jackets.

The goatskin ones I shared are useless during winter. My fingers get too cold. I decided to go Fleece for now as Wool lined seems overkill because I only ride inside the city.

Can’t wait to receive them! I hope I got the size right, all my gloves are size L and I measured again and I need at least 9” room. I should be good.

Looking forward to haring what you make of them when they arrive. I think it's long gone time when the leather boys all get together in London again for us to have a class trip out to the GoldTop store.

I’d prefer if they were another tougher leather but I guess cow will be decent.
