Best Break-In Stories, How Did Your Leather Jacket Age Over Time

One of the best things about a high-quality leather jacket is how it changes with wear. Some jackets soften up beautifully, develop a rich patina, or even tell a story through their scuffs and creases. What’s your experience? How did your favorite leather jacket break in over time, and how long did it take before it felt ‘just right’ to you?

Maybe provide a tale of your own to get the ball rolling :)

The first serious leather jacket I owned was a Highwayman in brown fqhh from Aero. I didn't like it when I got it out of the box - it seemed too heavy, felt like a suitcase and I was annoyed to have spent all that money on it.

It took a month or so to be comfortable It's 16 years old now and probably my favourite thing.

It initially went with me to a few UK pubs and then I took it with me to Shanghai. It's been scraped over by a chair, saved me from an arterial wound (also pub), rained on, snowed on, baked in California sun, lashed by Hong Kong monsoons, shat on by birds, vomited on by one daughter, used as a pillow and a blanket, worn by both kids in cold winters overseas, coveted by friends, scorned by enemies, carried paperbacks, folding knives, official documentation, unofficial documentation and worn in or on just about every vehicle I can think of except a tractor.

Well if you ever find yourself in Davenport Iowa then give my Uncle John a ring and we can rectify that.

I have some from last year. I'll take some more soon. Also, a Café Racer that I have similarly worn without any sense of self-preservation. The Highwayman is brown fqhh; the Café Racer is battered seal HH. I really want Battered Tan to make a comeback so that I can get a Plainsman in it - if not, going to have to go Natural CXL.

I don't have any saga to tell, just wearing it for morning walk, walking to grocery shopping, I sweat in it a little I clean it, and I got some drizzle while wearing it, and somehow the water stain give it more character, also the brass hardware start growing green patina and some rain dilute the patina a bit and stain the leather more, it's a mundane uneventful process but when it been happening for few years then it has some effect on the leather Screenshot_20210311-160956_Gallery.jpg
