Weird wrinkling across the upper chest of the second one. That would cross it off my list.

Both genuine for all I can tell. Both overpriced, too. You can find cheaper used ones.

My father has a waxed cotton Belstaff from the 80s.. that was the real deal, proper biking equipment. These leather jackets are all from much later, I believe Malenotti era is the early of mid 2000s after the company had already been sold to a big fashion conglomerate. These jackets are no longer functional biker wear, just high priced fashion. For what it is worth, some Belstaff aficionados praise the Malenotti stuff for being better than what came after..

Seems to tick all the right boxes.

From after the sale to Italy, but before the quality deteriorated, as far as one can tell from the photos. I have always liked them for what they were. The leather has a nice heft FOR A FASHION JACKET, but is nothing like the hides we normally discuss here.
On the other hand, not the junk they sew together for the past ten years or so.

I still cling to the two Belstaffs that got a way (a Panther and a Gangster) and wouldn´t be ashamed to wear them. Prices to high by maybe GBP 100-150.

I like a Belstaff, but I think their waxed cotton jackets are better waxed cotton jackets than their leather jackets are leather jackets, if that makes sense.

I'd happily get another waxed cotton Belstaff, and I'll be honest I'm currently quite tempted by something in a Thom Yorke knackered red.
