I always draw one on over a tiny, faint freckle I already have under my left eye.

CherryRed, you are SUCH a Rita Hayworth! Va voom!

I'm very much wanting to have mine tattooed darker. My boyfriend is going for another tattoo next week, so I might have it done then.

I have one under my left eye, which I darken due to my make up being so damn thick lol

I absolutley love it, and it seems that people I know seem to also agree, a few have had a small beauty spot appear outta no where. Must be contagious...

I'm getting this bad boy tattooed on soon-ish. I bored of having to keep drawing it on, and the mornings where it doesn't seem to quite turn out to be a circle, more of a smudge.

I have one that stands out more then any of the others I had. I actually got the rest removed on my face. A good perk for working for a dermatologist. But I only wanted the one to be there. I call it my marilyn monroe beauty mark. It's on the left side of my lip.

I have a small "x" tattooed just under my left eye... does that count?

Sure! As I said in the beginning, they've been done in many shapes.

Would you be adverse to telling us approximately how much it cost? I know it's not polite, but it would help out those of us here who want to have ours tattooed.

My friend who's a tattooist did it for me for free... but it took about 5 minutes, if that. As far as price is concerned, most tattoo shops have a minimum price to cover needles, gloves, ink caps, clip-cord sheath etc. etc. that every tattoo needs fresh before you even factor an hourly rate. There's no way a tiny little dot would be over the shop minimum, but there will be costs involve so it may be more expensive than you imagine if your mental calculations are based on time alone.

That said, a lot of places are reticent to do facial tattoos on people - though I guess reproducing the look of a beauty spot probably make your case a little easier in fining someone to do it. A word to the wise, though: find a good shop - a bad tattooist can mess up even a tiny tattoo! :)

My x is just about where GA's real spot is... it's funny; I wear glasses and people often don't notice it!

Thanks, hun! I'm going to guess that it'd be around $50-60 (minimum deposit rates vary from shop to shop).

Personally, I'd rather fork out for a good tattoo than pay $5 to some scumbag  ESPECIALLY for my face!

$50 is definitely an average shop minimum! I was thinking if you ever go to get a tattoo or get one touched up, let them know about the beauty mark thing.. then it could just be included in the cost, rather than going just for the mark.

I definitely wasn't telling you to go to a skeezy person who tattoos out of their house! Just that if you've been tattooed before and are friends with your artist, you can work around the shop minimum.

Years ago, when I took a course in Costume and Makeup as part of my Theatre studies, I learned that beauty marks during the Restoration period were used extensively and were even worn as fake "patches."

The location of the beauty mark was supposed to tell something about you. A mole beside the mouth meant you were a coquette, a mole by the side of the eye meant you were passionate (I remember this one vividly because I have a beauty mark at the side of my left eye and started laughing when the instructor mentioned it).

Evidently, there is a such a thing as the study of Moleosophy, which includes not only the location of the mole, but the size or shape.

I have never enhanced the beauty mark, it is just there.

I must admit sometimes when I hear "face tattoo" I might raise my eyebrows, but yours actually sounds pretty appealing

Well the one on my lower lip is a piercing scar that is raised slightly so I just darken it and the one on my cheek is real... but just ...enhanced! Hahah.

My grandmother had the same one on her cheek also enhanced. She was such an interesting woman.. This is a photo of her in the early 60s.

Gosh no, I didn't take it that way at all! :)

Jezebel Amazon, the monroe piercing is a classic place for a beauty mark, as is the cheekbone - very cool to have both of them. I like your look - it's very Dita!

I had once heard Marilyn "moved" her beauty mark. I merely have chicken pox scars, but am lucky to have a nice beauty mark on one of my breasts, in the cleavage area. A man once told me I needed a floor-length, red satin gown with a "drop-dead" neckline to show it off!

Oh yes! Very medieval. ;)

Marilyn never moved it - It was there since birth, but on its own wouldn't have shown up in early photos. She once said of it "Sometimes I darken it, sometimes I don't." The truth is it was rather small, and on the left side of her mouth - photos that show it on the right side are printed from reverse negatives.
The only known "work" Marilyn ever had done was teeth straightening, and cartilage placement in her chin (subject to argument). There are no known records of any major cosmetic surgery.
