I was in a fast food place this week and a guy came in wearing the all time best beater I have ever seen. First I took a pic from a distance, then closed in and asked permission to take some close-ups. He didn't have much to say, but his sister said that he (who is in his fifties, at a minimum) got it when he was 16 and his grandfather died, passing the hat on to him:
OUTFRIGGINSTANDING!!!
Best “guy with hat passion” ever!!

I spend a lot of time in the sun and I’m a huge fan of wide brim hats and good sunglasses.

Adam Pacesetter in Chrome. Vinegar and naphtha could not bring back the ribbon and binding. That, along with a few moth nips, will relegate this to beater status.

I like it, a beater with GILLS. Still looks good, just not great. A total wearable beater! Nice one Bob.

Been my BBQ hat for the last 10-15 yrs, & boy does it smell wonderful! Just sit this hat in the sun & breathe in the woodsmoke!

What a great hat for BBQ it has been smoked like a rack of ribs. Must smell grand!

My fall and winter bad weather felt beater. She can take it all. Got a brim like a hard pecker. Stays stiff even in rain. :):):)

A worthy beater Winston. What brand is it?

As Head Groundskeeper for Hurricane Manor this Sunbody has gotten a lot of mileage during the last 5-6 yrs. It's also endured many miles while in a canoe, & several hrs time providing shade in a hot tub.

Shade is the operative word on this one Jack. Quite a substantial straw.
