No I'm note delusional. They didn't start testing for steroids until 2003. So, anything that happened before that is enormous conjecture. Did Bonds use steroids, of course. There is nothing so sanctified as to use the full arsenal of what was available at the time, and anyone would do the same. And, if you want to uphold the sanctity of the Michell Commission in one of the most blundered federal investigations of all time, thank god it was something so small as goofing around with baseball doping and not something serious, please do. Baseball is a lot of things, and in general and this time of year baseball fans are extremely good at shiny distractions like this. I align myself with a fair number of thoughtful baseball fans that sound like they are having their first born taken away by the Cubs sending rookie phenom prospect Kris Bryant down to Iowa to start the season for two weeks to delay his arbitration clock one more season. Oh the humanity. No one will remember any of this come July. I hate to sound old, but people have been bitching and outraged about the game since its inception as a professional sport and here it is chasing down the NFL in revenue, setting attendance records and profitability. What did Roger Angel say, "The golden years of baseball are from whenever you were 8 until when ever you started noticing girls before the box score."

There is a lot to be said for that and I come from the National League side (North Side, that is) and believe me the Cubs have generally been horrible in my lifetime. There is nothing more sad than the last day of the season.

Bonds's use of steroids was both illegal and against baseball rules. If federal law and the rules of the game you are playing are not "sanctified", at least within their own context, then what is the point of either?
