Thank you all for your feedback on this project hat work, working with exotic skin has taught me a lot, I have seen some Python skins & stingray that would make great looking hat bands, the rattlesnake skin was a challenge and a learning process. I could have purchased a rattlesnake hat band made however I noticed that the skins were glued to leather with grosgrain ribbon backing and I want the skin to wrape the piece of leather totally, no head or tail and sew the ends together with a saddle stitch, plus I had to cut the ends at an angle the same as as a sweatband for the hat band fit the crown without any gaps between the hat band and the hat body.
I really appreciate all of the feedback, lets me know if I am doing things right or if I have to make corrections.
Have a Great Week,

I feel your pain. I, as a moderator for this part of the Lounge have no access to the how and why the system does this.
The Head Guys have looked into this and are aware and working on it.
@RBH Do you know what software you use on the back end for the forum? While poking around I noticed XenForo mentioned in the Fedora Lounge page source.

If so, something like this might work to disable the censor:

Also, some additional discussion I found on the censoring:

It renders me skeptical of putting tooo much faith in AI and the algorhtyms. Sometimes they just don't make sense.
I agree with that, since AI was brought to my attention I have tried to use it for different things, asking questions about a few projects that I am working on, my son has a 1971 Chevy Nova 350 V8 and I have taken on the task of changing the fuel line from neoprene fuel line to stainless steel braided line and the AI system has given me about 3 different ways of doing the same job, I asked the same question 3 different days and received 3 different answers, question was the same each time. Some genious, previous owner decided to run the neoprene fuel line up around a high energy coil system, when I first noticed the setup I thought of a future fire problem.

Has anyone figured out the problem with the system that sensors everything printed on the forum and other places yet? It is difficult to post a description of a hat that you have made if the system doesn't like words like b u s t e d hats , B E A V E R, R a b b i t, r a t t l e s n a k e s k i n, pig s k i n, turkey f e a t h e r. I posted photos of the whiskey color FEPSA b e a v e r on Instagram yesterday and tried to post a description of the parts of the hat and that everything was hand made, their system would not let me post the description, so I ask google ai what was wrong with my description that Instagram refuses to let me post. This sensor system is enough to cause me to cuss like a drunk sailor on shore leave.:mad::mad:

Update on this Penn Steele western style hat. My customer wanted a mull kick added to the crown in front, take a peek at the finished hat.
I always say that there is always something new to learn when you work directly with your customer, by working with with this customer I have received an education in making hat bands using rattlesnake and alligator skin, the alligator is controlled and watched very clossly by our government, however it make a nice hat band, there is a few ways to process the rattlesnake skin for a hat band, braided horsehair is a great hat ban when used as a second hat band on the same hat. The only problem with using the snakeskins, rattlesnake, python, stingray & gator is it is expensive, however I can do the work required to make a hat band.

I don't know what is going on with the AI system, however if you do a search for b u s t e d and check the images it get arrest photos, there is also a group of men that have the same name except they play music, you can get other images depending on what other words that you put in the search.
Maybe I should have gone with Gangster, hitman or even Ye Old Hat Co., if I had known that this would happen I would have gone with my other registered name, Bluegrass Hat Co.
I haven't put up a website yet, but I can always build a website and post some of my hat photos on that website, plus creat a new iron on logo, build up that name and run under both names???

So do I, however some knuckle head decided to set up AI to check for words that maybe offensive, and because the AI **** system will effect anything that I have posted on the web, including my website listings, I have noticed that the number of listings for my website has dropped on Google.

B usted is a cool name, but Bluegrass Hat Co also has a nice ring to it…. And avoids all the BS around the current name. Also regardless of AI etc, a Google search will always (to some extent) associate the name with people getting arrested. In my opinion (not that it’s worth anything) I would change the name. Especially since you don’t already have a website AND you’re already seeing the negative effects. Good luck!

Hello Fedora Fans,

I have been a little busy with things to do around my house, plumbing repairs, mowing 4+ acres od grass, along with the normal honey do list. I managed to squeeze in a little time on a new hat, it is not finished yet, I still have some work to do on it.
This a 160G pure beaver hat that I am working on, the size is 7 3/8" brim width is 3.25" crown height is 4.24" in front 4" in the back, crown shape is a teardrop shape, black aligator hat band with oval shaped concho, the leather sweatband is a brown color, this is a western style hat waterfall front brim with a slight turn down in back. This is not a hat that someone ordered, I am just staying busy finding new ways of doing things, keep me busy and learning new ways of doing things.
Here is a few photos as the hat looks now.
If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Thank you for your time, interest and help,
Darrell

I am glad that this is just something to keep me busy right now, last night I ironed out the brim flat then steamed the front crease out of the crown, it still has the tear drop, the front pinch and dents are gone, I am thinking about a different hat band, I found a snake skin last night that I am thinking about purchasing for this hat, it isn't a rattlesnake skin however that might be a good choice, a 1/2" pencil curl might be something to consider.

If anyone has any thoughts or suggestion, please let me know.

Have a Great week,
Darrell

Hello Fedora Fans,

Well I finished my recent project, it is a 160G weight 100% pure beaver in whiskey color, it was not a hat ordered by a customer, just something to keep busy and learn how to improve on my hat making process. Some of the work takes a little longer but the results are worth ever minute that I spend on the hats. Here is a few details on the hat.

Gambler style crown Size 7-3/8” 100% Beaver Whiskey Color Fur Felt
Grosgrain Black 1” wide ribbon with Silver Conchos Hat Band

100% Pure Beaver Whiskey Color

Brim width is 3 1/4" with a ½” pencil curl, the brim is slightly turned down in front and back.

The crown is a Gambler style

Crown Height 4-1/4” all the way around

Hat band is 1” wide Grosgrain ribbon black color

Silver Concho Hat band around the base of the crown, no breaks and is over the black grosgrain ribbon

Dark Brown color leather sweatband is 2” wide with small white bow

Brown Satin Liner with gold paisley print Gold piping with ****** Hats imprinted in the center

Let me know what you think of this hat, please.

I was thinking about making the crown into a fedora shape, a fedora shape with the silver concho hat band and pencil curl, wide brim might make this hat a little more interesting????

Have a Great Weekend,
Darrell
