So, it's been a couple of months, since I last asked them about it, but I mailed them again to ask if they are going to make a size 48, after all, they might have received enough similar requests to make them change their minds...

But no. Same old ORDER A SIZE 46 AND SEND IT BACK IF IT DOESN'T FIT!
(I'll pick up the shipping costs shall I?)
Like I don't know what size I am!
Dudes, if your size 46 is good for my 48 inch chest, change your size tags coz your pattern grading is wrong!

I don't know what size you are BigJ, but I have a 45 inch chest and as you saw a few pages back the size 46 was excruciatingly tight on me. Almost like a 42! If you're a true size 48, you'd probably need a 50 based on how tight the sizes are...I've asked for bigger sizes too but they weren't interested.

They've definitely messed up the pattern grading which is a real shame based on how good the jacket was.

Its a shame... I wonder why.
I normally wear a size 40 (39+ inch chest) and tried both a 40 and 42, and they felt so similar. Kept the 40 and it fits me well, but is quite trim especially in the waist... (would have preferred a bit more length, but I always have this issue). Shoulders still sometimes bother me, as they feel a bit wide for the size... but then, not necessarily... dunno.
Cockpit 100 missions? They do big sizes.... costs a bit more, but also such a good jacket.

@MeachamLake, I'm a size 48, for a snug fit. For that AVG baggy look I'd need a 52 or a 54!
It's a shame because they are really good quality looking jackets.

Hi Flier, I don't mean to sound complicated, but its a tricky one. As I am 72kgs give or take and vary between 5'10 and 5'11 depending on who's measuring, then I would say a 42 for you. There was very little difference between the 40 and 42 I was able to compare. I will say that zipped up, the 40 is snug. Not overly so, but unless you are a trim bloke, I would err on the 42. My 40 fits fine, but in a perfect world I'd have more length on arms and body, but thats just me being fussy. The 42 has very close to the same lengths as the 40, maybe just a hair-smidgen more... But then I always have this issue, which is why I have trouble with originals. Go for the 42.

Thought I'd post this pic here of a (Korean War era?) G-1....
Hard to tell or be sure, but heck... looks so darn close to AVI's 55J14 repro.
Snug torso, slightly rolls off the shoulders, even collar looks right etc...

@Brettafett Funny I saw the same picture yesterday! Like I said, you should keep your AVI G1 ;) It's the only leather jacket I have right now.

Guys, you tempt me to buy G-1 from Morten :) I have the original G-1, but maybe I'll think about buying ...to have one G-1 without patches.

For folks up to the size 46 range, reasonably priced originals (G-1's) are readily available.
