This is definitely OT, but this picture gives a perfect view of the definitive flapper accouterment, the "turned down hose". The flapper would wear these shiney silk stockings without garters, and instead they would roll the top of the stocking down till it made that nice little roll, then twist the edge into a knot and turn it under. That made the stockings stay up pretty much all day. They would occasionally give them a yank and a twist to get them back up. A very flapper gesture.
My mother's family had a housekeeper in 1922 who remaind a close family friend all her life. I remember Auntie Gail still wearing her stockings in just this way all the way into the early 1960's.
