Nice Whippet, Rodkins. I haven't seen many brown ones. Nice color and that diamond looks really nice in it.
I was very lucky to be able to grab this beautiful Bluegrass Green Whippet that Robert (RLK) recently sold. I'd been looking out for a green Whippet for quite a while so this one is a special treat.
The hat is in great condition and has the O.P.S. tag, which dates it to the early 50's.
The last photo is the Whippet with my Bluegrass Green Campdraft, to show how the colours compare:

Thanks, Robert!
I REALLY LIKE your Whippet David !! LOVE the color! It reminds me of my father's Rittenhouse in style and proportions. I LOVE the style of hats made in the late 40s/early 50s much better than those of the 30s for sure![]()
The Whippet was introduced in 1937 and kept on selling....
John Lofgren Monkey Boots Shinki Horsebuttt - $1,136 The classic monkey boot silhouette in an incredibly rich Shinki russet horse leather.
Grant Stone Diesel Boot Dark Olive Chromexcel - $395 Goodyear welted, Horween Chromexcel, classic good looks.
Schott 568 Vandals Jacket - $1,250 The classic Perfecto motorcycle jacket, in a very special limited-edition Schott double rider style. '37So the Whippet made in the 50's was the SAME size and proportions as that made in 1937 ? Or did they adapt to the style sense of the times as has seemingly been done with the current Whippet? if so, I'll take the one from the 50's![]()
Felt formulations changed during WW2 and perhaps again later. I've seen 2 bow variants. Crown block and ribbon width may have had minor adjustments from supply variation, but the hat, and for most of the period the price, were fairly consistent. So the '37 thru '54 years were the same hat ?
Thanks for the info. I'll have to look into one of the later ones from the early/mid 50s for sure .Felt formulations changed during WW2 and perhaps again later. I've seen 2 bow variants. That's a beautiful Whippet, Vic! Looks to be in pristine shape as well.
