I do too
Yes, I was so surprised once I entered the world of Instagram and discovered the HUGE number of hatters making Nick Fouquet styled hats....they are legion. Waaaay more of that type than the classic fedora. Heck, I have even made one but my excuse is the customer wanted it that way.The “why” is that some like the look. Some also wrap the crown in bandannas or stick feathers behind the ribbon or band. It’s just a personal preference. Stetson and others offer some hats this way and some custom hat makers do similar for their customers. Even the traditional single ribbon or band is cosmetic as it covers the sweatband stitches and adds some visual appeal.
Here’s three hats from Hornskov’s Bohemian Collection:

It doesn’t appeal to me, but different strokes…
Natural is no dye so I would think natural. What would be a comparable Akubra color to Stetson’s natural?

Doesn’t seem like a popular Akubra felt color. Not many results when looking it upNatural is no dye so I would think natural.
Natural is a great versatile (neutral) colour in the Winchester beaver felt. Tonak has one but it is much much lighter. Akubra does not offer a felt in what they call Natural. The closest, looking at the their felt swatch chart, would be Sand but it is far from an exact match. Most manufacturers even if they name the felt "Natural" is still a dyed felt and thus as with any of the colour names is purely subjective and varies greatly one manufacturer to the next.Doesn’t seem like a popular felt color. Thank you so much!My apologies for the lengthy delay. Could not recall the thread title and could not locate it. The product is made by "Lepage" and is plastic wood. It looks much like peanut butter. I use a Varathane Diamond Coat as a finisher/sealer.

No, When I do the naptha bath I let it dry dry thoroughly before I block it. So by the time I block it the hat is dry and the Naptha has all gassed off. I then steam it then block. Light coloured vintage hats are so much harder to clean than dark ones. You mentioned Varathane Diamond Coat in a previous post.
Have you ever had any reaction/issues with the finish or to the hat body after a Coleman Fuel bath?
Particularly white or light colored hats.
Thanks @belfastboy.

Looking at the Federation the best bet would be tawny fawn and in the stylemaster Acorn Fawn. I would personally go for the Federation myself. Mine is 16 years old and still going strong.
Hope that helps
Johnny
All of the fawn colours are great versatile hats. Goes with just about anything. Glad to help. This helps tremendously! Appreciate your time, and thanks for being so kind!
Nice looking Champ, Granville.Newest acquisition is a short-brimmed Champ. Judging only by the crown it could be "old new stock." Sides of crown are soft, but no dents or pinches. When I try and mold a dent it basically pops back out. Other than hours of massaging them into place, is there a method for 'fixing' the dent/pinch? View attachment 423937
