I'm not quite sure where to put this request, but I'll start here.

Does anyone have a manual for a Singer 46-100? I just purchased one and I would love not to have to spend 3 months figuring everything out. If I have to, I have to, but if anyone knows anyone who knows anyone, I would be eternally grateful.

Thanks in advance.

Hard to tell from your photos, but that would be very high sweat.

Good point, my thoughts exactly at first! I thought about it and stopped by the antique store after work today to confirm. Indeed I do believe it to be sweat stains but from another hat due to stacking. I put another hat over the crown of this one and the sweat band of the other hat perfectly aligned with the staining on the crown.

This seems to work on other sites, so I figure that it deserves a shot here.

If you've got a quick hat question and don't see a thread for it, just post it here. Whether the question is about cleaning, anatomy of a hat, brands, etc., this is the place.

Here's one to break the ice.

Well, I'm no psychologist, yet here's my guess. It's an indication of friendliness because wearing a hat makes you look more commanding, especially to people who are shorter than you. Personally, I wear hats for fun as well as for protection against the rain and the sun.

Can anybody enlighten me on the reason why the brim of my Stetson has permanently lost its shape? I bought a Stetson Dune Gun Club hat during my long stay in Tucson, AZ. Just what I wanted to get, featuring a thin, nice ribbon, and a brim not too wide. I noticed my sweat soaked the base of the crown. Then, after my return to Europe, it got rained on. The brim curved outward, and ever since then, I haven't been able to get it back into its original shape even with steam. The inner band is marked "XXXXX." So, what mistake did I make that could have been avoided?

Worry about wearing the same hat at parties without looking the same as the previous party !?

Of course in Fedora Lounge we all want to have many hats, but sometimes we do not find what we want or the color we need but the model we already have .... confuse !?

I'm going to give an example, I love my Cubanito (Panama) but I could not find the color to match my suit colors, so my wife made the 3 pack - ribbon, pocket lace and bow tie - just change the hat ribbon To fit everything and do not need to change the hat model.

Obviously having a beautiful wife helps ;-)

Well done. And your photos make a good case for Brussels being a happy place.

What's this communities opinion of Master Hatters of Texas in terms of overall quality (compared to Stetson, Resistol, etc...)? I really like some of the hats (felt and straw) I've seen lately and I like that they are a smaller shop.

Hey there, friends. I'm slowly learning how to put together a proper custom hat with all the fixings, and I'd appreciate your help if you can give it.

Does anyone know where to buy the plastic conformateurs that I sometimes see being used in fittings? I'm not sure if they're entirely disposable or meant to be used as a shop tool only, but ideally I'd like to have one that I use in my shop and some that are disposable enough to send to clients who live remote from me.

Thanks much :) -Jacqui

I'm going to be in Seattle, Washington in August. Any custom hat shops in the area?

Steve Baretich with The Bonafide Hat Company is awesome. Standout hats made really well.

He's the only men's hatter I know of in the area. I make custom hats as well, but he's the guy you want. I'm still learning. :)

If you look him up, let him know I told you about him! I bug him on Facebook for tips and hat nerd conversations occasionally.

I can't help you but I've been thinking of having one from them.

I checked out some of the MHT straw hats today in person. I was really taken back by the low quality fit and finish. The straw may as well be plastic- I don't know what kind of straw they use but they've been lacquered so heavily that they look like plastic toy hats.

I've been quite impressed with their felt hats, and even their wool/felt blends are pretty nice. But I won't be picking up a MHT straw Western, that's for sure. Bummer.

I believe Art Fawcett may sell those.

Looking at this bowler on the bay.
Size says 6 5/8 54cm, but isn't 6 5/8 53cm?
Item no. 322412586977

What do i go by? I like the hat just not sure on the size. Thanks!
