JJ also has a hat making shop on the premises@Nolucker I might even suggest Worth & Worth, a few blocks uptown form JJ. BOTH excellent resources, but I know W&W has a hat-making shop on premises. Have fun!!

I think it doesn't have a style name, only a model name that is "Diamond Horseshoe".here are some pics trying to date and maybe find a style name
Looking for an Akubra to wear with business casual (jeans, tucked in shirt or sweater, boots /shoes). Leaning toward the Fed IV (Charcoal grey or Moonstone) or Stylemaster (graphite grey). Most of my outwear is black or burgundy. I'm about 5'9 150, semi long/narrow face, semi pale complexion ha. Please point me in the right direction gents....
Good move......looks GREAT with the ribbon!!I would go with a Moonstone Fed IV. I often wear mine with business casual (or a suit). Although I had a local milliner bind the brim using a vintage mid grey ribbon.

Quick question, y'all. I just got a Dobbs with a doubled-over brim. The brim is literally doubled over - all poofy-like - and it is sewn in with the sweatband. Here is a picture of the hat. Ever see or hear of such a hat before?

Okay, Ken! You got yourself a keeper, there, my friend! Probably is, as Ryan said, sweat. Here's a cure, before you put it all back together.Opinions on hat discoloration?
I spent part of the weekend hitting local antique stores for some fur felts in a despite attempt to find something to add to my rotation. Even when I was not into hats I rarely ever came across any hats of interest vintage or not besides things like a twill, a moth ridden fedora, a stingy brim or some old beater of a cowboy hat. Maybe it is due to the area of the country I am in? I Came across this generic Champ, size 7 1/8 (size smaller than I wear but it seemed to fit ok), 2.5” brim. ~4+ crown, sweatband and liner in decent shape and the felt was nice with no insect damage whatsoever but it was missing a ribbon. I wanted to play around in constructing a vintage ribbon so no big deal. Price was no bargain at $15 Firm and considered it for just a minute but noticed that around the crown was some discoloration. I originally thought it was glue but it went as high up the crown as about 3” all the way around the hat. Just curious if anyone has any guesses as what the discoloration could be?
Thanks. I was not even going to post this, figured something else would come along that did not need cleaning and had a ribbon. I may give cleaning a try if I have time to swing by and grab this one. Couple more poor pics from my phone...Okay, Ken! You got yourself a keeper, there, my friend! Probably is, as Ryan said, sweat. Here's a cure, before you put it all back together.
First time poster here, been lurking for over a year.
Anybody have experience with JJ Hatters in NY? I'm looking to get a brim stiffened and possibly bound as it is now unfinished and I want it to have a good snap. I have purchased from them, but never had serious work done to a hat. I live near them and I would like to avoid shipping the hat to someone to work on
Thanks in advance
