I remember seeing some posts of hats with liners that pin up girl art in them, can anybody point me in the direction of where these might be obtained, please.
Shelby's Fine Fedoras has a nice pin up girl liner as well, or at least mine does...

Exactly... I love the Fed but it is a little much for my everyday use. Thank you for your input on the Temple. I am still leaning heavily this way, but I also think the Sydney from Akubra might just fit the bill for my "daily" hat. Silly little things, small details in each make me waver; but I am leaning the Akubra way. We shall see...

Searching the web turns up: Singer & Michaeli Inc Framingham, Ma Tel no: 508 879-7719 email: singerandmichaeli@verizon.net.
"fine roan leather sweatbands made from full-grain, vegetable-tanned sheepskin since 1938.

I've never contacted them, but give it a try.

Okay, just talked to them by phone. One must buy "a gross," which is 144 sweatbands. That's about 141 too many for me, dang it all.

So the search continues. :(

Well, thanks to you all, I learned enough to pick up an Open Road on ebay. Of course, one hat is not enough so I am scouting the waters for a Homburg.
So, on ebay I see a poster from the past (http://www.ebay.com/itm/1937-Hand-F...652?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20c4cafc3c ) and the hat has a curving sweep from front to back (don't know the technical term) that does not seem to be present on images of either other vintage homburgs or some of the cheaper new ones...Was this just a style of homburg. Is it possible to put such a profile on a new one?
Still learning..
Thanks

This is a hat that has us scratching our heads. The band clearly states "Whippet" but the hat looks nothing like any of the other Whippets in our collection or that we've seen.
Hopefully an expert here will have some words of wisdom for us.
Many thanks.

Akubra produced such a hat in Australia under Stetson license which they still sell as the Whippet.

Why not send a PM directly to one or more of the many custom hatters who post around here? Maybe one of them could sell you a couple unmarked sweatbands from their stock.

You're talking about the brim? Looks like a pretty standard pencil roll to me.

Here, for example, is one of Knudsen Hats' Homburgs:

My hesitation is perhaps unfounded, but present nonetheless. I suppose if they don't offer hat refurbishment it would be okay. I just don't wish to rankle anyone.

Would my request be akin to asking a shoe repair shop for a pair of new soles, so I can glue 'em on myself?

Personally, I don't see any harm or insult in asking. If a hatter doesn't have (or care to provide) what you are looking for, all he needs to do is say as much. No big deal, in my opinion.

Yes, jlee562, thank you...it just seemed that all the homburgs in the auctions photos were flat and lacked a certain flair..so that kind of brim treatment is called pencil roll??
Thanks again...

Well, a pencil roll/pencil curl is any brim treatment in which the edge of the brim curls up that way. It's most commonly seen on western hats. May also be called a kettle curl.

I have read through, ok, skimmed through, several threads about cleaning hat liners. Didn't see my question addressed.

When removing a hat liner with the plastic covering on the logo and washing it in Woolite and cold water does the plastic become spotted with water and dirt residue in-between the liner and the plastic when dry?
