When I have encountered a Panama brim like that I iron the brim flat first , then shape by hand with steam. I use a good steam iron set on steam with a light thin towel btwn the iron and brim. Let the heat work thru the cloth and then I hit the "burst" button on my steam iron to shoot some steam to it. once it is as flat as I want I let it cool then use my Jiffy J1 steamer and my hand to shape the "snap" that I want.

Gorgeous hat. Brim is too wide for me to pull off, but judging it off the merits of a hat, it's lovely.

I saw this Stetson 100 on a webpage and liked it.

Can the watermark likely be repaired?

Am I correct in assuming that it can reblocked to a different crown shape?

What would a reasonable price range be for it?

btw, the box insert isn't original and, unless the one lounger who makes them is willing to make and sell more, you'll never find another. The same goes for the keys - if it doesn't have them, there's only one source, and he's got to be willing to help you out.

Don't think anyone answered this one yet.

You're looking to get the brim to stay snapped down, right? Correct me if it's another effect you're going at.

I treat the training of a milan brim the same way as any straw or panama - time and patience. This gradual method is a good one:

Take the brim of a straw and snap it down, then hold it by the brim and make the hat bob up and down. The brim will not really stay the exact way you want it at first, but this kind of breaks it in. You'll hear the straw creaking.

If you do that every day, the brim will gradually lose its elasticity. Eventually you'll have the brim staying where you put it.

Is this the effect you're looking for?

It's not worn mainly in the UK, it's a a term mainly used in the UK. A trilby is basically a stingy brim fedora.

No, of the two types (brisa and llano), llano is considered the "higher end" (and more expensive) type. Nice hat!

Absolutely nothing wrong with a Llano weave Cuenca Panama. It is the finer of the two weaves found in hats woven in Cuenca, Ecuador. It visually is similar to the weave of the Montecristi hats woven in Montecristi or Pile, Ecuador. Some of the Llano weave Cuenca's can cost as much as an equal weave count Montecristi depending on the Retailer you buy from. Remember, the hats from Cuenca, Brisa or Lllano weave are BLEACHED and as such are "whiter" than the real Montecristi's which are usually treated with sulphur and are more of a "natural tannish" color.
