Artwork Featuring Hats

Nice that you have the communication with Mr. Brown to keep with the hat.

Just awesome, Bob! I’ve had that second hat you posted flagged for future use (replicating the sketches in my sketch book) for several months. Very happy for you, a truly unique oneuvakind!

Thanks Jack & Ross (and everyone for the likes). Happy to be the caretaker of this one for a good while.

MACKE (3 January 1887 - 26 September 1914) was a German Expressionist painter. He was one of the leading members of the German Expressionist group Der Blaue Reiter (The Blue Rider). He lived during a particularly innovative time for German art: he saw the development of the main German Expressionist movements as well as the arrival of the successive avant-garde movements which were forming in the rest of Europe. Like a true artist of his time, MACKE knew how to integrate into his painting the elements of the avant-garde which most interested him.

According to the book "Paintings of the Southwest", on page 28 it displays this painting, titled "The Dry Ditch", and cites the year as 1964 just in case anyone might be interested. Wonderful use of "light" and "shadow" in Mr. Adams' work, and a sort of stylized realism that I find interesting.
