NC Wyeth, father of Andrew, was one of my favorite artists when I was in high school art classes and had time to draw. Many of his paintings had very vivid outdoor imagery and lots of energy. One of my favorites was one of a caped Confederate soldier (guerilla?) in winter woods, looking back over his shoulder with revolver drawn. You can feel the tension, isolation, and all kinds of other emotions from just a glance at that painting.

And a different shawl. These two were my favorites. The color and lighting on the hat In the second one really stand out.

Yes, it does. I had the impression that the first was a draft of some sort for the second, more colorful one, but that's only because comparing the two, to me the second seems much more detailed and "complete". But I claim to know nothing about art. I just know when I like it!
