NC Wyeth, father of Andrew, was one of my favorite artists when I was in high school art classes and had time to draw. Many of his paintings had very vivid outdoor imagery and lots of energy. One of my favorites was one of a caped Confederate soldier (guerilla?) in winter woods, looking back over his shoulder with revolver drawn. You can feel the tension, isolation, and all kinds of other emotions from just a glance at that painting.

Among the other emotions you refer to, I feel the wind & the cold, homesickness & despair, and most of all the hunger from not getting enough to eat.

That painting reminds me of the scene from Cold Mountain where he has deserted to return home, keeping to the mountains so as not to be seen.

My favorite from Cold Mountain is Ruby. Not quite "Artwork", but it is a press release, and she's wearing a hat...

Interesting art, Bob, thanks for posting. I find it particularly interesting that the first and sixth paintings are of the same model and pose, but with just slightly different facial expressions. It makes me wonder, why the subtle change?

The answer is probably WAY over my head!

Yes, it does. I had the impression that the first was a draft of some sort for the second, more colorful one, but that's only because comparing the two, to me the second seems much more detailed and "complete". But I claim to know nothing about art. I just know when I like it!
