I never really understood the Victorian fascination with the art of pets & other animals in human situations. It must have had something to do with the advent of taxidermy.

Dang, you had nice day! It's funny that no matter how well a painting is reproduced or photographed; it's not even close to viewing the actual work. Once you see the real thing, you're just in awe.

You must have left that gallery feeling fine and very pleased. Art of that caliber is like a drug (as it should be). Good stuff!

I'm surprised Frederic Remington hasn't been mentioned yet......or has he ? There are so many, too many great paintings of his to put up here so I'll settle for this self portrait.....avec chapeau of course.


Remington was also an exceptional sculptor.

Similar in style, though Lynch isn't quite as risqué in subject matter. Lynch also has several "Nighthawks" inspired pieces.
