I have recieved Arts hat(actually a month ago). It is a mid- warm grey teardrop fedora, with a silver bound edge, a bogart big pinch, 2 inch band, 2 3/4 brim high crown. I will post it as soon as I figure out how. The hat is the nicest fedora I own. By the way I've been trying to reach him for 2 and a half weeks, does anyone know where he is. Art If your out there I would love to own another one of your hats.

Sounds very nice...

Please post a ton of pictures I know the mods will help you.

I own 5 of Art's hat and I still want a few more. He is such a pleasure to deal with and a class act thru the whole process...

A few years ago I had a awful experience with a so called hatter in Virginia and thats how I found The Fedora Lounge the members here helped me with this crook and put me in touch with Art Fawcett.:) :eusa_clap :)

Hi Nick,
I received your message late last night but it was too late to call. I don't make calls after 9pm out of courtesy. I'd better explain here publically whats happening the last few weeks as I am behind on alot of my correspondence and haven't been posting much. Its simple really.
Last May we bought the property and started building. What we bought was raw land...no water, sewer, power, amenities of any kind so we had to start from scratch. As you know we worked our tails off ond were able to get moved in late October but the house still wasn't finished. I was able to finish the hat shop in December ( amidst winter snows) but everything else ceased because of weather.
Here we are, sun coming out at last. I still have an unfinished home, unfinished barn ( although my wife bought her first horse last week and brought it home), unfinished storage buildings, no fencing for the horse (soon to be horses) and the sun is out so I have been working dawn till dark on my home and barn, and storage buildings. I haven't been working in the hat shop during the day, but instead swinging a hammer or shovel along with the carpenters trying to get things done.
Now, I HAVE talked to my felter and the color you want ( as you know) is special order, which I have done, but have not been able to pin him down on a time he might be able to get them to me. He is a great guy with good intentions but is overwhelmed with work also so I can't push him. All I can do is ask for your patience. As I explained, as soon as I get the felt you will get a new hat.:)
Hope this helps Nick. I don't intentionally ignore my clients and I hope you don't feel that way.
Thanks for giving me a chance to explain to you and everyone else at the same time.

Thanks Art, I completely understand. Ill give you a call if i decide to also go with the charcoal. Just a quick question you told me once when you sand the felt the felt gets lighter. So the charcoal felt would start off being almost black but after it is finnished it would be a dark grey?
