it is a copy of a Stetson Special featured in the pre 40's Stetson thread on the Lounge.
Art did a superb job of copying the hat from the picture I showed him. It is on page 403 of this thread.

What a beauty! What are the brim width and crown height?

After seeing examples of Art's Modern Times series and reading all the rave reviews on the Dove felt, I ordered what is billed on the VS website as the "Wall and Broad". This came yesterday and I just had to customize it, so no out-of-the-box photos, sorry. It comes with a center dent, pinched crown, but I bashed it into a C. The nice touch on this one is the 18 ligne black variegated ribbon. 5 1/4 crown, 2 3/8 brim, raw edge.

I really like this hat. Bravo, Art.

Kaosharper1 Just got the tape measure out. Brim width is 2 1/2" Crown height bashed is 5 1/2 " so unbashed crown would be 6" I guess.

g.durand Very sharp look, I like the ribbon on that one.

Damn, it seems seems that this is the period where everybody is getting their hats. I just got a message yesterday about my one being shipped out!
hatband - That's an interesting looking brim stitching!
g.durand - I was wondering who would be the first to show up with one from the Modern Times Series. Ribbon looks quite distinctive.

Now I'm wondering if someone is going to order a hat with both the ribbon from the Wall & Board like g. durand and the triple double-stitch on the brim like hatband.

Great looking additions to the Hall lately everyone! Here is my first VS and I am very proud of it. Please forgive the cell phone quality pics. When the wind dies down around here I'll get some better sunlit shots outside.












This hat is pounced so nicely and has such a nice hand I wish I had some shirts made of it. Thanks Art!
