Art Fawcett VS Hall of Fame

One of my VS's is a traditional fedora design. It's been through a couple of rainy events. And though I am meticulous about keeping the brim in shape, there is an ever so slight ripple on one side interrupting the side arc flow. How do you reshape, or 'reset', the memory in the brim area to even out brim arc action?
From my experience, I would guess that your head is not symmetrical. And the rain has led the bottom of the crown of your hat to revert to a more symmetrical shape, distorting the brim a bit.

If I were you (and I did this myself), I would ask Art to make you a band block. Since he has the exact shape of your head, he can make a block that will help keep the headband area in that same shape while your hat dries after a rain event. So no more brim distortion.

They are all close to 3", but 2 7/8" to be exact.
The first is a custom by Cane Rod Maker, Lounger.
Next is cut-down Resistol western, see Conversion Corral thread.
Last is Akubra Campdraft.

Thanks, for the information. Ideas for my next purchase

I've always liked brown and grey together, I'm sure it would make a sharp hat!

As for brim width, I suggest going through the lounge looking at photos and seeing what proportions appeal to you. I. E. Crown height, crown taper, brim width, ribbon width and so on.
A 2 1/2" brim will look completely different on a hat with a 5 1/2" crown opposed to a 6" crown.

Just don't over think it!

Also, as much as possible, let Art be your guide - he has excellent judgment in these matters, and if you can send him a picture of yourself so he can get an idea of your build and what type of clothes appeal to you, he can make something that will be perfect for you.

I'll only be using the hat with a suit or some sort formal atire I know that I look horrible with a tapered crown on crown hight not to sure. Ok so basically my family has a tradition that men wear hats but mostly customs I tried wiggling around and getting a stetson but they knew just by looking at it. Another thing is that when you turn 18 to be considered a man you have to get a hat.

Hello Don, and welcome to the Lounge.

Art made a charcoal hat with chocolate ribbon once, see the image below (upper left plus the close-up in the lower center).

This is my first time handling one of Art's hats. Absolutely flawless work. Without a doubt one of the most lovely hats i'll ever have the pleasure of owning.

Almost zero flange on the brim, just slight upturns at the side.
