Rabbit, you've got a fantastic talent and a fantastic collection of VS hats and the knowhow to match them perfectly with your suitings. The dove VS is a great color I agree. Don't have one yet, going to get it ordered. You do a great job with your collages, I've learned a lot from them: Thank you Sir!!!

VS Compliment

Wasn't sure if I should post this here or in the "nicest comment" thread, but I'm going for here instead.
I've been away from the forum for a while, and I missed this place!
Anyway, as you may remember, Art re-created my grandfather's hat for me based on a photograph I found. I called it the "Theodore" in honour of his name.

Anyway, was visiting some family/family friends and an elderly gentleman approached me (whom I did not previously know). We had the following conversation:
He: "That is a fine hat. You wear it well."
Me: "Thank you sir, it was created based on a photo of my grandfather in his hat"
He: "You mean Ted? He always had one that looked like that. It's the spitting image"
Me: speechless; this man knew my granddad, and his hat! I found out later they had worked together in what he called "a previous life". Wow.

So, Art, if you're reading this, Grand Slam sir! Thanks again for doing such a swell job on an amazing product that pulls fondly at the heartstrings of not only myself, but others.

smoothsailor, you've got a great looking hat on too! Is what you're wearing in that pic an Art Lite Sahara? I like that color, looks great on you! You wear it well.
Preacherman, no it's the regular dress weight sahara. It's a great hat very soft and smooth. I have a Art lite coming my way, when it comes I can tell the difference. Thanks for the compliment.

I've been browsing through ebay postings and got tired of seeing hats with black ribbons, some of which looked like different colors because of the way they're photographed. I guess my imagination was looking for something more, only to be disappointed when the description reports the band as black. So now I got a few ideas of ribbon colors for possible VS hats, like blue, green and rust/copper. I've even took sample pics of the hats posted here and and his site, using MS Paint to color in the ribbons for inspiration.

I had sent Art a request for my second custom hat, a light sage (since I've been considering a greenish hat) with a dark purple ribbon (the color I've most often mistaken the ebay posted black ribbons for). I've asked Art for pictures to see how this color combo might work out. I'm excited to see how it looks!

With summer coming up fast I had Art make me this Dualist. Brim color is Cabernet beaver felt
with one of Art's fantastic ribbon and bow combo's. Out of the Sun in is a deep burgundy.
I just popped out on the back porch so I could get a full sun picture. It has been cloudy and rainy since it came this week.

Nice to see the cabernet felt out in the wild. Nice striking hat. Seeing that combo makes me wonder what a two-tone hat with black and cabernet would look like.

Ed, that's a really cool looking dualist - I bet you get to wear it a lot as the days get warmer.

Mine has had a few outings already, I find it to be perfect when it is a little warm for a felt hat but not really straw hat weather.

Enjoy!
