Thank you all for the kind words on yesterday's outfit.
Today, chilly temps and heavy cloud cover call for dark grey flannel. Dark green tie, burgundy socks, high-polished brown Oxfords with brogueing.

I'm throwing in a shot of the shoes. Hall of Fame dwellers, how do you feel about it - should I rather place pics like this one in the "What are you wearing today" thread in the attire subforum or somewhere else? I'm posting this one here in order to show the details which are not visible in the long shot. I thought it might be helpful to see what the VS's are actually worn with.

Looks good Rabbit Great VS. I'm sure you have no competition for "best dressed man" in your area.

For me, these shots would work best in the What Hat Are You Wearing Today thread. Good to see them, wherever they end up, though.

The Dove and charcoal combo is one of my absolute favourites, a classic.
Nice outfit altogether, Rabbit (very similar in style to my preferred usual, BTW ).

I agree, Rob. Dove with charcoal is a favorite of mine, too. The charcoal ribbon brings out the best in the Dove felt.

It´s here! Today I picked up my first VS from he customs office. I had sent Art my specifications and he wrote that he changed a few details, but would be sure that I would like it. What can I say? He has been so right about it, but can you do anything wrong with a VS at all? I don´t think so. Thank you very much Art, I surely will be a returning customer.

So here it is, the hat without a name (suggestions?):

Colour is "Sahara", 2 3/4 (7 cm) raw brim, teardrop crease, 2 inch (5 cm) dark brown ribbon with VS-stripe and feather and dark brown liner. I have already tilted the front of the brim with the help of demineralized water which worked out suprisingly easy.

Art added the feather which looks brilliant - even my wife liked it! The VS-stripe ads class too.

Like hell it´s your´s...

...and your´s truly wearing it (I wore it the whole day in fact!).

What a fantastic hat! Do I need another one? No! Do I WANT another one? You bet!

+1 sir. Very sharp looking hat in the cameo pic and with you wearing it. You look darn sharp.

Sahara with the chocolate ribbon is truly a classic. I have a similar hat and find it to be versatile. The sahara is a warm color. The ribbon and general appearance somehow allows the hat to work with cool and warm shades of my wardrobe. I like the combo. I hope you enjoy the combo as well.

Dapper! Well put together. You could have walked into my board room, before my retirement, and you would have had my attention.

The dove and charcoal add a clean sharp look to the field of gray flannel. Great pics. I do appreciate your pics as it so clearly shows the hat in real life wearing shots. I am a hat wearer and that hat looks TOTALLY wearable!

Frank; I have been sipping my coffee musing that I too have worn my "new Art Fawcett" fedora the whole day after recieving the hat. Wear it well and proudly sir. No shame or embarasement at all from my direction. I share that experience - It is such a pleasure to wear and I can vividly remember that it made even me feel sharp. It was hard to take it off. In fact it was hard to wear my other hats for a while. The confident feeling wearing the hat affected the whole day. Powerfull mood item, for me, the sharp fedora.

Not to omit - ahhh the fit!

Good to have more VS hats in Germany

My Art-lite Sahara will be in Germany, but only for a bit over a week in mid-September. I actually ordered it specifically for this trip - something light-coloured for weather that I hope still feels a bit like summer, and also something that will not be too hot. Plus something that could get rained on.
Traveling with just one hat maked versatility important, and I agree that the Sahara is a very versatile colour.

Of course I've been wearing it most days since it arrived

If I didn't have the forest right behind the house, I would feel an urgent need for a running fedora every single day. The way things are, I need a device like that whenever I'm on the road. So yes, the proposed invention is definitely called for. A silk sweatband perhaps? Uh, no I guess it won't work. They occasionally used to wear silk tops for cycling back in the day, didn't they? Caused them to sweat like a pig, or so I've heard.
Thin wool as a sweatband perhaps?
