Petersham is ribbon finished with "unfinished", "serrated" edges. compare my before and after pics you'll see. The bow close up shows it better.

Put in my order for Art #2 today!!!! Gonna get a milan for the summer. I'm thinking chocolate color with a mocha ribbon in the proportions of the hat in my avatar...but I'll change my mind a million times between then and now.

When I order, a few months ago, my silverbelly hat from Art I had asked him to put a silver gray ribbon. He discovered, towards the end of the process that, unfortunately, the one I liked and saw on his site was no longer available. He sewed the closest match he could find. Although I liked it, and I'm sure you guys remember as I posted pics at that time, I wasn't in love with it. Art's ribbon had some violet undertones that I just didn't enjoy. After weeks and weeks of digging in NYC I found this gorgeous french 70s ribbon in the perfect shade. I hope you don't mind, Art, but I replaced it! Here:

I am with you, I like the after better...nice job on the ribbon....

Hello All,

I've been through this thread a couple of times over the past year. I have a VS Fedora, but now I am trying to decide on a Pork Pie style VS hat. I know you can 'create your own" styling to a degree, but I think I'm ok choosing among the gallery ideas, the Sammy D, Uptown, Peach Melba, and Spumoni. I like the Uptown the best. I've studied the stingy brim 40's jazz style pork pie, and in my case since I am 6'2", I prefer a larger brim. So I am thinking: Pecan Uptown with a 18-20 ligne ivory/or very light tan standard treatment bow ribbon, 5-1/2" height, 2-1/2" brim with clean edge like on the Sammy D.

Since I am looking to maintain a classic vintage (1930's-1940's) styling, I was wondering if anyone had any additional thoughts one should consider regarding color, brim width, crown height, ribbons. I am sure just relaying this in an email to Art would probably take care of things, but wanted you guys to chime in with thoughts too, before Art paints the canvas.

Thanks.

You're setting a great example of style for the next generation Animator. Just wait 'til they're old enough to appeciate the finer points
of that sharp diamond bash and Art's skill. The way kids grow, it'll feel like no time at all.

Another work of Art

Here's my newest hat from Art Fawcett. It's a rust fedora with a double teardrop and 2 3/4 inch brim; it has a great 16 Ligne triple arrow bow treatment. It's currently sitting atop my artmade hat block.

For anyone interested, the rust color is another of Art's wonderful, hard-to-define colors. I honestly don't know how he comes up with these different custom colors on a regular basis. Must be talent. By the way, the hat blocks are a fantastic new addition to his offerings.

Beautiful hat Cliff! The color, crease, and ribbon work are all unique. Very dapper indeed!
