Fantastic, Big Man! :eusa_clap What a great hat, and such a fine inspiration. I like the color, too.

It looks like it was made for you. ;)

... I love the thick ribbon. That hat and you fit like you've always been together.

Well, considering that I'm kind of a "thick" person, no wonder. :D

Seriously, folks, thanks for all the nice comments. For any of you out there who are serious about wearing hats, I cannot recommend Art Fawcett's work highly enough. The hat you receive is well worth the wait and the price. Mr. Fawcett is an exceptionally nice individual, and is truly a pleasure to do business with.

Big Man the hat is a beauty and a nice piece to add to the family history and tradition. When I get home I may have to look through the family pics for a picture of my great grandfather and one of his hats, l like the idea.

Having a hat like the one my grandfather had is really special. When I showed it to my Dad, he was especially pleased. My grandfather died in 1932 when my dad was eight years old, so my new hat is as much of a "connection" for him as it is for me.

By the way, have a safe trip home.

Well, my new hat from art Fawcett finally arrived - and it's great. I wanted a hat like the one my grandfather had in a picture taken at the Brown family reunion in 1928. The only picture I had was one where my grandfather was standing with his brothers, and he was holding his hat. While the photo didn't really give much to go on, Art nevertheless worked his magic and came up with what I feel is as close as I could get to the same kind of hat that my grandfather had in 1928.

For reference, here is the picture of my grandfather in 1928:

And here is the hat Art made:

The hat is in Art's "blue smoke" color, which is a light to medium gray. It has a 5 7/8" crown, 2 3/4" brim, with a 2 9/16" ribbon. The size is a 7 5/8 extra long oval, and it fits like a glove.

I can't say enough how very well pleased I am with this hat. If a hat from Art needs to have a name, I guess I'll call this one the "1928 Reunion".

Wow! That's a sweetie.

Oh the agony...

The USPS has my hat, and I have to leave town this afternoon until Sunday. I almost won't be able to enjoy my vacation because I'll be too anxious to get home to my hat!

Is that an antique wheelchair? How the heck did you track down one of those?

Yes, it's an antique (well a 1930's model to be exact). We had a couple hundred of these in an old storage building, and this was one I rescued and cleaned up.

Just so it all makes sense, I work at a state mental hospital that was built in 1875. We have a lot of "old stuff" still in active service (but not the wheelchairs, of course).

Big Man I love that hat. I really love that wide ribbon with a wide brim. Excellent.

Oh and to comment on a post you made in another thread, the woman is right, you do look like somebody important in that outfit. I would say you command attention anyway, but more so even in the hat and suit.

Forgive the bad pictures, but I wanted to get these up as quick as I opened the box. Worth every penny, and more. Fits like a glove!!!
