Wow. Just, "wow."

That is an very bold hat, but also an very excellent one and seems appropriate to you. The striking color, distinctive 'bow' and strong contrasts in color all set to a tall porkpie crown do not fail to attract attention!

Striking hat, but the image of a barn immediately sprang to mind. I do like it, just can't stop the association when looking at the bow and color.

Pompidou -Very nice! I think it has a lot of personality... I could never pull it off, but you sure do!

That is a great use of a custom hat. You aren't going to just find that hat at the store. Congratulations!

This is by far my favorite hat pic on TFL! This hat is just so awesome (although I don't know if I myself could pull off the porkpie)! Congratulations to you and Art...it's a masterpiece!

Left side, actually, I think. There's a seam and little white ribbon on the inside band that I assume is the back. If the seam is the back, then the fancy part of the ribbon is on the left. I love this hat.

Originally, there was supposed to be a feather, if I remember right, but looking at it, I can't see a feather really doing much for this. And honestly, I keep losing feathers when I roll the windows down while driving on the highway. Probably better off without.

Granite's very versatile, but IMHO it doesn't really go with blue because it's a brownish grey that has a slightly green tint. The hat in my avatar is granite, and there are a lot of granite hats on this thread.
What color do you think would work best? The steel seems to be a blueish gray and thats on my short list as well as the pecan, granite and charcoal.

I think others should chime in, but I don't think any one color will go with all those colors. Granite is probably the most versatile, but it doesn't look great with blue. But if you have a brown and a grey coat, then granite would work best with both. It also goes with khaki. You can wear it with blue, its just not ideal.

You probably should just talk this over with Art. He'd know best.

What I did with my order was just send Art a front and side head and shoulders pic of me outdoors, told him what clothing I wore, whether the hat was formal or casual, gave him my height/weight/skin tone and left him to it.

He will be making something in Silverbelly for me as a first hat and then I'll choose something else in whiskey/pecan or forest/moss as the next ones.

Dwebber18, as has already been suggested, no single colour will go well with every element in your panoply; following your sensible parameters, I would select one that complements as much as possible, and granite is possibly your best option. It being a warm shade, indeed it will look bad with most blues - blue being a cold colour. So it will combined with other cold shades, including cold grays.

Pompidou, that one is a very personal choice, which suits you. It is nice to see, on occasion, how Art can turn out nice examples of bolder styles, besides the more conservative ones. I like the fat ribbon! Is that the cabernet color, isn't it?

lol lol busted!!!!

I hadn't thought of that RLK but you are right, the design DOES seem familiar..

I admitted to Pompidou privately that this hat really stretched my comfort zone and truthfully, I'm still on the fence over it. I'm not a big fan of contrasting bindings but this hat would have been too subtle without it ( I know, debatable). It by far has sparked the most intense internal debate I've ever had on a hat so, I'd call it "mission accomplished". I built this one three times before I felt I could let it leave the shop.
Wear it in good health Sir!!
