Arrival of Aero Cheyenne in heavy goat

Today I got the jacket. It is a perfect fit!!

Thanks directly to JanSolo for "making" this cool custom jacket.
Sorry to snatch the idea, I just had to have it.

Looks like I was lucky to order this before Aero found out they dont have so much goat.
Or maybe it was ok because I told them to do a 3 piece back.
I decided this because I didnt want to wait for a huge goat to die, and also, I kinda like seams in the back, it looks tailored.

This was my final order:
* Custom 38 Cheyenne in seal veg tanned goatskin.
* About 1-2" shortened length from cheyenne pattern
* 25.5" arm length
* Extra thick darkbrown alpaca lining.
* Wine sateen over alpaca lining for the sleeves
* Slightly waisted
* Fit should be trim, normal wear will be with just a t-shirt, but will use sweater some months.
* Stockman patch pockets with scalloped pocket flaps. (sligthly more scalloped then standard)
* Patch pockets lined with Corduroy
* No handwarmer pockets.
* Vertical left inside pocket in the facing with press button closure
* 3-piece back, with curved yoke
* Engineered storm cuffs

Jesus christ just look at it!

I understand if some people doent like the curved yoke when its a 3-piece.
I love it.

I am so happy I did this to the sleeves, soo nice and easy to get in and out.
I dont regret one second having alpaca in the sleeves, it makes all the difference
in the cold weather. I dont find the arms at all narrow, they are perfect.

This is beautiful. Yes, the cuffs "hug" your wrist, i like the feeling.
Also a lifesaver in the cold.
(those small threads looks kinda bad in this closeup but its not, they are just end of thread-bits and there are several due to alpaca, sateen and leather)

I dont know it this collar is standard, it looks like I got sharper flaps.
I think the collar rocks my socks off!! It made me just get a big dumb grin
in the face when seeing the jacket for the first time and it really is sucha nice top of the jacket all in all.



The goatskin is so nice, it is very thick and lovely. The jacket is absolutely beautiful.
It is everything i had hoped for and more.
It weights 3kg (6,6 pound) and I dont find it heavy at all, its perfect.
I dont feel the weight at all having it on, it just sits very nice on me.

Its made by Moira and I checked the entire jacket for faults and couldnt find a single one.
It is sewn so perfect in every stitch.

Now there was 3 things they didnt do as I ordered.
* They didnt line the outside pockets, but I am happy they didnt, I think they would have been bulky. Maybe this is why they didnt do it.
* The pocket flaps arent really more scalloped, this doesnt really matter tho.
* It doesnt look like its waisted as I wanted. My suede coat was waisted and I really liked it so I was looking forward to it here, but this also does not really matter, the jacket just fits sweet anyways.

That is a very nice jacket and some great details as well. You must have spent some time figuring it all out to make a decision how you want it. I think there are a few goats in this fine jacket . Thanks for the excellent pictures as well. Congratulations and enjoy wearin it!

That is the great thing about this forum.
All the information is here and it really pays off to search and read
alot before making final desition.
I actually didnt like the grainy goat at first after seeing the beautiful
shiny horsehide, and I was thinking about getting the jacket in vintage black FQHH, but after thinking back and forth and looking at pics
over and over again the goat grew on me and Im so happy I took the
time to think about what would work out best.

I have spent many hours "listening" to what people have said about their
different jackets - what they like and dont like. Puzzling this together
with my own preferences have got me what i believe is the perfect
casual winter jacket.

I wore it today in -20c (-4f i think) with a sweater and I was sweating. Im gonna try take a walk for 20mins tomorrow with just a t-shirt and see what happens.

Oh yes, I was also thinking of putting in a smart throat "closer" thing like eclairvaux has on his cheyenne but I ultimately didnt do it. Im thinking I need a scarf when its this cold anyways, and during milder weather it can be sweet to have the collar clean if i want to sneak about with the collar up

Beautiful coat. I have to admit I wasn't in love with Jansolo's when he first posted pics. However, after seeing the pics of it broken in I was sold. Very nice. Leather looks great and the wool and sateen lining just add to the great look. Top notch.

The stitching on your jacket does look wonderful like you say.
I gotta think that Goat is easier to sew than FQHH due to its suppleness.
The stitching on my FQHH Highwayman is good, but not like your jacket.
Some stitches are very close together, others are just right, and some of the stitch lines veer off to the side in spots.
Nothing objectionable, but not perfect like yours.
I'm surprised that they can sew FQHH as thick as Aero's at all!
Those sewing machines have to have some high torque motors!
Anybody else have comments regarding the stitching of Goatskin vs FQHH?

I looked at the stitching on your jacket and I think it looks good.

When I bend the goatskin it wrinkles in soft creases, but the FQHH
kinda also make hard sharp edges so there is a big difference in the surface.
The goatskin is very thick but it is still soft. The surface is not hard.
I would imagine that due to the surface of the FQHH, you cannot help
the needle sliding some/leather stretching here and there also taking into
account the irregularities inside the hide.

I looked again and it turns out the closeup wasnt from your jacket.
My extremely stiff cowhide jacket does have what you explain tho,
and I must say that for all the 17 years I have had it I never even
thought about it and noone has commented it.
It wasnt until just recently I saw it.

I think noticing things like this is a slight desease we get from hanging here lol
