Had to buy these today at an opp. shop. They're too big for me, darnit (HA! Socks! Darn! Gettit!? I burst me up sometimes) so I'll be offering them for sale in the Classifieds.
But before I do, I hoped Marc or other experienced types could share with me and others just what we're dealing with. They remind me of photos I've seen in posts here about 1930s and 1940s socks. They are fantastic quality. The elastic cuffs still have some life in them.
The printing on the foot reads,
PENNY'S
100% Filament Nylon Body
Mercerized Cotton Top, Heel and Toe
Nylon Reinforced
They are New Old Stock, unworn and with original price tag of 69 cents still attached. I just can't figure out if the printing on the price tag is early computer or much earlier typewriter or stamp technology.
I'll probably ask $10 shipped, but what say you about age, value, etc.?
