And did you have to pay vat and duties on the replacement jacket as well?
Yes, I had to pay that again. Once, after a lot of back-and-forth, I managed to get a refund, but another time I didn’t.
When the sender, DHL, and Austrian customs are all involved, it gets complicated because everyone blames each other.
I don’t know if things have gotten better since then, since the senders should have more experience by now, but right after Brexit, it was terrible.
I actually don’t buy anything expensive outside of Europe anymore if there’s a risk I’ll have to return it. I don’t want to deal with all the red tape.
It’s best to find out exactly what to do to get your money back before you return an item.

How do I claim it back?
Customs is on your side. Maybe DHL is, too. Ask them what the return label needs to look like, that is, what information it must include, and what Aero needs to specify for the replacement. But even if you do everything right, there’s still a risk you’ll be stuck with it.
I’d think long and hard about that, though. The jacket is too good for a remake.
By the way… most Aero jackets require 1 cm more back length than those from other manufacturers because the neck opening is cut differently. At least, that’s the case when you measure from the collar seam to the hem. If another jacket is 67 cm, the Aero needs to be 68 cm to appear the same length. I don’t know if this is the case for every model, but it is for mine.

If the courier handles the import, refund is via them as well. You need to establish that there hasn’t been a second taxable transaction but merely a return on the first deal. The courier will require proof for that (receipts, correspondence with Aero).

They are not keen to do that as it involves them dealing with the tax office themselves, so the process is extremely ***bersome.

Of course, handling fees etc. are non-refundable.

Details may vary, depending on where you are.

I had Aero make me a custom Shackleton a few years ago. I wanted them to match the exact measurements of their standard size 44 Shackleton that I own and purchased from their stock items. They got the measurements all wrong and it was way too small. when i emailed them and showed them photos of the new Shackleton on top of my old Shackleton, they argued with me and said it was within specs. But they allowed a return. The shipping fees for return were so high from the US that I just sold it in the Classifieds here for the same price I paid.

100 pound remake fee plus postage..

Trying to math this out see if it is worth it.
Honestly? I think the Aero is way too good to send back for that price. Visually, I don't see much difference between it and the other one you showed us.
All in all, that'll come to around 160 GBP, and you'll probably run into trouble with customs and have to pay something up front (though I'm keeping my fingers crossed that things have improved by now).
What really bothers you about the length of the jacket?

The short lenght and the big size. I shouldvenwent down a size. Im usually between a 46 (in my Maxwell at least) went up to 48 so i can layer.

Does it look too big?

At least in the photo, I don't see that. But maybe it's because I like my jackets best when they just barely cover the belt. ;)

I'd say in the photos in the other thread it looked a little short, in the one in this thread it looks fine as others have said.

But it is how it feels for you which is indeed the important part.

I might be a bit of a pessimist, but I would go against a remake here now you've said you are not happy with the size. If it was the same size but increasing the length by X inches, I would say go for it. Or any single change. Now we might be in two changes territory, I'm honestly afraid of this being just a money pit until you get your perfect jacket which might be the next one or may be the one 5 iterations apart. I would honestly just cut my losses.

As per the latest pics, tucked shirt looks good (then no need for a remake?) but untucked looks awful and it wouldn't be remediated by 1 inch nor 2 nor 3 not 4 nor 5. You would just need a longer coat to fix that outfit.
