anyone experience with david morgan?

Hi everyone,

I have a question: Has anyone experience in ordering or with the customer support of david morgan? Since days I'm trying to contact them by E-mail and no reaction. I want to order a hat, but there's an error with the calculation of the shipping costs, so I can't order it, unless I want to pay 130 bucks for shipping (which I don't want).
It really drives me crazy, since I want this hat so badly and david morgan is the only shop, which got it (in this colour) .

I've shopped with him before (leather craft supplies) and found the shop pretty responsive. I believe David himself has retired, so perhaps things are a bit up in the air with the transition. Perhaps give them a call at 1-800-324-4934?

I purchased a hat from David Morgan dot com a few months ago.

They shipped the hat quickly and boxed it well. Their customer service, when I needed some information was very responsive (same day reply).

Maybe just a fluke. Try calling them on the phone as a few other gentleman suggested.

yeah okay, did call them now and ordered via phone. the main problem was that I couldn't do any offshore calls, because it didn't work with my phone provider.
now i ordered it from a friend and a pretty nice lady talked to me and could even with my german accent(nah, i guess it's not too bad at all ) understand what i wanted.

In the past, their website was of a nature that some of the common programs used to surf the web were not "supported" so there would be some strange electronic occurances when perusing their site or trying to order.

I ordered using their 800 number they were quick to ship, everything was boxed well and the product was correctly picked so I got what I ordered.

I ordered 2 hats from them a Squatter in Moonstone which is one of my favorite daily hats and a Bushman in their brown color. The Bushman was ordered with the idea of doing an Indy conversion but I have not proceeded along those lines as it is a great summer protection hat with the big brim and is used a lot on hot sunny days.

I have been doing business with David Morgan just outside of Seattle, WA, USA for many years and have had nothing but positive experiences. In fact, I learned about Fedora Lounge from them.

Knowledgable, patient, and courteous, they will answer every possible question you can throw at them, and every product they sell is top quality. I also really like its flat $8.00 S & H--no matter what the dollar value of what you order is, it's just eight bucks.

DM is the original U.S importer of Akubras and have been doing so since the mid-1960s. It is my understanding it is the exclusive importer of Akubras to North America, and so if you get one from another American- or Canadian-based retailer, it was necessarily sourced via DM.

Also, did you know that Mr. David Morgan, Sr. is the man who made the whips for the Indiana Jones films?

yeah, but they pretty much doesn't have anything I want. And if you do a custom order they say: "Die Lieferzeit kann bis zu 6 Monate betragen" which means as much as "shipping can take up to 6 months"... PLUS even without shipping costs davidmorgan and hatsdirect are way cheaper than this sir scam-a-lot >_>

I ordered a Sydney from David Morgan almost two years ago. The first one I received was too tight and I sent it back for the next size up. Three days later I had the replacement in my hand. Excellent customer service in my book. I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again.

I can tell you it will be a very pleasant buy from David Morgan very helpful with any questions you got on any hat he has. Prices are reasonable and shipping is fast don't worry about them it is a good website and owner there.

r.l., the comments about David Morgan match my two or three experiences purchasing from them.

I also wanted to add that I think you'll like the Banjo Paterson (I have two) but figured I should pass along a bit of advice about sizing.

In my opinion, the Akubra folks size their hats a tad on the large side to allow for a bit of shrinkage over time. And I've encountered two used Imperial grade Akubras that have shrunk. (Yeah, they can be stretched back, and one was a size large for me anyway so no damage done at all, but still.)

In contrast, the Heritage grade felt used for the B.P. isn't prone to shrinkage. At least mine haven't, and I have seven in this felt, some of which have seen fairly hard wear including lots of rain. I think they use the same block sizes for both grades of felt. Meaning these are apt to run about a half size large. I'm at 59.5 cm, and usually find a 59 or 7-3/8 fits best with a little stretching for most hats, while 60's tend to be too large. The 59 cm Akubras are dead on for my head.

David Morgan suggests that if you are between sizes, you should order the next larger. In this felt, I believe you should go the other way. My experience anyway.
