I have a gut feeling that many "modern" people, both Kids and adults alike really long for the values of generations past. I base this partly on my own experiences. I can walk into a hardware store bare headed and in a tea shirt and its "hay you" or "bud". Walk back to the car do nothing more than slip a sport coat and proper hat on and suddenly it's "yes sir can I help you". Not withstanding what some of the Guardians writers may say, modern society may be in need of something worthy of respect--and just perhaps a fedora represents that something.
