Another ‘does this jacket fit’ thread!

Hi guys,

What do you make of the fit/cut of this brand new Belstaff Supreme? I want to wear it on and off the bike.

The leather is gorgeous, one of the nicest hides I’ve ever seen (fnarr). My main concern is that it’s too roomy in the right chest area. The zip line is quite stiff, so maybe it would wear in nicely and fit to me, rather than bag out? Either way, it’s eligible for a return so I don’t want to take a gamble and lose. Worth saying it’s really comfy and I love the silhouette of it

Let me know what you think!

I don't see anything wrong with the fit. It might bag a bit in the torso, but with those pics, it is hard to tell.

Oh, as I was looking at the pics, George walked by and wanted me to tell you that fit pics should always be taken with the jacket zipped up.

It looks good overall to me, though I see what you mean -- it does seem slightly baggy on one side of the chest and a bit in the back area. Seems more like some sort of design flaw rather than the wrong size though, as otherwise the jacket looks perfect. A tough call...

Thanks for the replies. Do you think it’s worth getting it altered, or just on with the search?

Do you have a pic with back seen flat? Is it blousy in the second pic because you are arching your back?

I think the fit looks pretty darn good. You wouldn’t want to ride in a sausage casing and this looks like a pretty nice blend between a snug fit and a functional fit.
Truthfully though, any latex salesman worth his salt would already know this.

It's very snug on waist and good fit through shoulders and chest in the front, overall very solid fit but yeah.. don't know how to feel about the back panel.. not sure it is blousy because the jacket is too long and snug and kind of rests on your hips rather than falling down your body or it is because you stand very straight up and it goes away in the "on bike" - position when you arch forward?(I have had that blousy back panel to a lesser effect on some of my Vansons and with these, it was tzhe later thing.)

Yeah, it’s not an issue when I’m riding. I want it to be versatile though, and not look like it’s too baggy walking down the street

What's the alternative? You size up, it'll actually be baggy all over; size down, you won't be able to zip it up. It's perfect. If you find it comfortable as you say and if you like the way it looks on you, why the doubts? It's a really sweet jacket.

that's a back for leaning forward on a bike for sure. what happen to the other chest is in my opinion because the lack of chest pocket zipper on that side and extra weight from windflap making the panel creases vertically

Keep it! Looks awesome there Art! Welcome to Fedora Lounge, may your wallet make a concerted effort to survive :)

Really, that's as good of a Cafe Racer fit as I could ever hope to obtain. I'd wear it on and off the bike with no hesitations. Wear it in good health and enjoy!

Looks perfect zipped up for a bike fit. That strange "blousing" popping out the back should settle as you wear in the leather, I would think?

Thanks for all the replies guys! I've been wearing it indoors for a day or so and I've decided to keep it. The leather is already starting to settle to my body, and the quality of the jacket is amazing. It will sit with pride next to my Aero Wayfarer for a few generations I hope :)
