I adore the hairstyles from the movie. The Gibson girl hair to the french braids with the ribbons on the ends. Has anyone tried any of the Anne of Green Gables hairstyles?

I haven't but those movies are...everything. Can't wait to see what the responses are. Hello, kindred spirits. :)

I did a "fake-out" version of the Gibson Girl style while working at a living history museum and put on a supper that took place in 1896. I call it the "fake-out" because my real hair was barely long enough to create the poof, or "cloud" of hair and had to use a hairpiece to finish off the bun in the back. I have some pictures of it on a blog that I used to write, I'll include the link below. (Just scroll past the part where I am rambling about washing my shower curtain...)

And here's a preview pic:

Love Anne of Green Gables!

I have a copy of the Girlhood Home Companion somewhere which had two hair styles in it.

Wondeful! I would like to know how she was able to do the two braided buns. Its so marvy.

Before I had my hair cut this fall, it was long enough I could do two braided buns like that. I'm willing to bet it's just parted down the middle and the two sections are sectioned off again and all is braided into four separate pieces. You then would take the two "inner" braids and wrap them around themselves and then take the outside braids left hanging and make figure 8s with them around the edges of the buns, crossing over and tucking in the ends and pinning.

I hope you post some pictures of your attempt! I'd love to see it! My hair isn't quite long or thick enough, but I think I might give a modified version of it a try :). I really need to find myself a copy of Anne of Green Gable's movies to watch, I suddenly miss them.
