Good morning to all of you.

After thinking for a long time, my decision has been made that I'll pull the trigger on an ANJ-4 this fall. I am still unsure however as to which maker I'll go with. I've narrowed it down to either eastman or Lost Worlds, but I cannot decide between the two. Is the lost worlds worth the extra cost? Due to shipping and custom charges It'll cost around about 2000 euros. Any other suggestions are also welcome!

Hello. I am an owner of an LW ANJ4. I have also compared the differences of the EMLC. I’ll say that the LW will take an entire winter season of daily wear to break in. You will se beak in in the most challenging places like the arms in two weeks. The thickness of the all American sheep is one to be noted. The entire jacket is made and bred in America, so the choice of materials is first hand. Also the LW fairs as the most accurate ANJ4 available. Both in materials used and construction. The collar is extremely detailed. The LW sheep collar is a single piece where as the EMLC there is s noticeable seam. The back of the LW is two piece but the stitch work is incredible. EMLC makes some decent stuff but the choice for me was clear to use LW. Not to mention the jacket thrives in the rain. I live in Oslo Norway and I look forward to every miserable day because of my LW.

Wow, that is an amazing jacket! What more is there to be said of this jacket, it is absolutely stunning. You might have just convinced me to go for LW. Did you get the fit and size right immediately?

Yes it is. And yes. Stuart in a no BS kind of guy and don’t worry a bit about his sizing technique is spot on. He’s a total pro. Send him my regards please!

MDS’s photos definitely pushed me over the edge. It’s a complex jacket and the workmanship is just really top notch. In general I’m not one to obsess over details like stitch count, but sometimes i take my Anj out just to look at it. It’s really a thing of beauty. This year is the first time since i was a sledding, snowball fighting oyungster that i’m actually looking forward to the cold....sorta.

Man, that collar is just a piece of art on its own. I had a hard time justifying the extra cost but I can see now Lost Worlds is on a whole other level. Congrats on your jacket, looks great! I will post here once I get mine;)

Lovely jacket. I loved my Aero ANJ-4 but it was just too much for weather I get around here. In the end, I sadly had to trade mine in for a redskin D1 but it was much better suited to my climate.
I live in Belgium, I do hope I'll get a lot of wear out of it and wear it for most of the winter. Is an ANJ-4 truly that warm? Even in temperatures of 4-5 C°? Sadly not a single manufacturer makes one with a 1/4" fleece. But then again, that wouldn't be historically accurate.

I really like these sheep skin lined jackets. For the short shear lined versions... what temps do you think are suitable for them?

Do you think an D1 with 1/4 in fleece would be ok for temps 25 - 40 deg F?

These coats are breathable. Also learning to work a shearling like a tool takes some time. There’s variations to not only wearing a certain model but also using the waist adjusts.

I like no-nonsense, I'm like that myself. Great coat hanger BTW!

The coat Valet I have was just a cheap one for $50 off eBay. I highly suggest the leather coat hanger from Mushmans however. I’m trying to get some soon. I just bought a new leather Horsehide Mulholland jacket from Freewheelers

I just couldn't get the wear out of it to justify the amount of money I had spent on it - we had a run of unseasonably mild winters during which I only wore it a handful of times. Ironically, once I had traded it in for the D1, we were hit by the Beast from the East and suffered one of the coldest winters in a decades! But I'm sticking with my Irvin and D1 for when the mercury sinks; their shorter fleece makes them more flexible and I can layer to my heart's content with them.

Eastman’s Poughkeepsie AN-J-4 uses a thinner fleece than the standard one and is lighter than the B-3 that they produce . When I got mine they only made them in size 40 regular, but that might have changed now.

Heard about the Poughkeepsie last time I was up there. Found even my Irvin type from ELC too warm generally and now just have a D-1 which is very useable in the UK..layered up during the 'Beast'.

If you wish to layer a D-1 is a perfect option indeed! I would want my jacket to be my daily driver, but layering isn't a must for me at all, that's why I wish to go for an Anj-4

I've also heard about it but haven't found the model on their site, only the normal ANJ-4. The poughkeepsie should be classified under original maker no?
