Sorry about the slippers and blurred final photo. My wife was impatient and pushed my phone too hard. The colour of the wool is less yellow than shown and the overall gloss is also less In reality.
For fit I am 5 10 and 170 pounds. The fit is relaxed so I could probably squeeze into a 40.

Stuart listened to his customers and has ditched the bulletproof skins for new skins of stupendous quality. I don't know where they are from but they are in short supply.

Stuart's clearly softening in his old age... time was any reqyest for something softer or "more accurate" was met with a diatribe about "jacket queens" who aren't manly enough for LW. Looks superb. It'll be interesting to see how that glossy effect ages over the next few years. The ANJ4 is a sharp design.

It's a beauty, John! Fantastic.
How do you find the weight on the shoulders? I know you've said in the past that the ANJ-4 can weigh on and tire the shoulders after a while … and when I tried an ELC ANJ-4 in the mid-noughties, that was my immediate impression too - but oddly, not last year when I tried one on at RAF Duxford (which I really liked). I thought it felt similar to a B3.

I have only worn it for an hour or so it is quite heavy as are all these jackets time will tell I suppose. It is probably heavier than the Eastman version, but with the waist straps done up fairly tightly some of the load is taken off the shoulders.

John,

Thanks for the pictures the jacket looks fantastic!
How's the waist fit? You mentioned that the waist was a bit big on your previous LW ANJ-4.

Good to know - thanks!

John, that's a beautiful LW. I don't think I'd miss the dark russet reinforcements of the early ELC ANJ-4. Seeing the collar on your jacket convinces me, I will opt for this over the M-445 any day. :)

John,

In your review on VLJ you mention the zipper being a bit light for the jacket. Is the zipper size similar to the LW B-2 jackets. I have a B-2 (which I think you owned at one time) and while the zip works fine it feels like a toy compared to the rest of the jacket.

BTW bottom line, was it worth the price? I have to admit I've almost pulled the trigger a few times this weekend.
