First, thanks to @belfastboy for pointing me in this direction. I also know that @sergejvandervreede and others have caps made by this company. I’m a believer that all companies and hatters need there own dedicated thread.

My first AmiCharnel arrived a few days ago (12 days for shipping). It’s a Kelly green Harris Tweed with a very nice leather sweat. I went with this color because it was a one-off and I didn’t want to miss it. There are many more traditional colors available. I was a bit uncertain as to sizing when I ordered, but my 61.5 long ova fits nicely in this XL. It seems to be a quality well-built hat and I’m certain that I’ll order more as the pricing is working class approved. [emoji6]

In one of AmiCharnel caps I had him add a water repellant liner. Up here in the rainforest it is a nice feature and does not cost much.

If memory serves (not always guaranteed!) it was under $10. I wore it in a downpour in Seattle and of course the tweed got soaked but my head stayed dry. It is a plastic like liner between the tweed and the lining of the cap. Does not add any real bulk to the cap.

Thanks. So waterproof but probably not breathable. I’ll ask them about it on future hats.

When I got my cap I was afraid that the liner might result in mildewing. What sold me on the caps was the William Morris liner, as I've always been a big fan of his work. Is Stewart still making them?

Yes, he dropped his Etsy page and now has a website under the AmiCharnel nameplate. I never thought of the mildew issue......so far so good and living in Vancouver it has been tested.

I don't remember if I was charged for it or not. Anyway, it's a nice touch and something to contemplate while sitting in the dentist's waiting room.

I have been wearing flat caps for 45 years in wet and windy UK and I've never had any mildew problems with them having liners. Of course, I don't leave a wet cap stuffed in a raincoat pocket for a few weeks!

Not seen this maker before this thread and I am having great difficulty choosing just one! head says several, wallet says one!

Your green cap is really nice. Next time I might order a William Morris liner. My grey cap has the basic black liner.

Checked out his web site over the weekend and am intrigued. I assumed the prices listed were just for the cap, so could you give a rough number on shipping cost and any duty tax rate to USA. Thanks.
