I was in a western shop in Pendleton Oregon last year and they stocked American Hat westerns. They all came flat brimmed and open crown so you could get the retailer to bash them to your liking. My impression was they were a bit on the pricey side for the felt quality but then they were western weight and that is outside my realm of experience.Reviving this old thread:

Hmm, I’ve called at the Best Hat Store a couple of times, but I don’t recall seeing Ms Olson.

For what I can see, it's a well made hat but a bit stiff.
In terms of "modern" long hairs, I still prefer the Resistol Panda (it have longer hairs) but neither beat the Real Nutria long hair.
