Amelia Earhart May Have Survived Crash-Landing

I don't know much about aircraft design, but could the wings really be still attached after ditching?
I believe it depends on how the aircraft hits the water, i.e. a forceful nose dive or a "belly" landing with the aircraft sort of skipping across the surface of the ocean. Earhart and her navigator Fred Noonan weren't novices, so as long as their Electra was operating properly she would likely have done everything she could to keep the nose of the Electra up as it skipped across the ocean's surface. Assuming, of course, they were forced to make a water landing.
