Rockwell always blows me away. To think he never regarded himself as an artist, he always said he was an illustrator. My favourite of his work is " The Problem We All Live With" when I first saw a copy of it I honestly thought it was a photograph.

This link below may provide an answer to why he “never regarded himself as an artist”.

I have collected several books & illustrations by this man which I consider a unique artist that I admire greatly.

In a harsh and sometimes abrasive world, I think a little sentimentality is no bad thing …
I love his work.

People will shout art only at the things they like. There's nothing to be disliked about mr Rockwell's work. It's like saying life can be too sentimental at times. It can, yeah, and it's a good thing.

This one always makes me smile...

I've never seen that one before … I could admire that for ages! So amusing and so right!
And what flesh tones … fantastic.

Gotta love it how the old woman just changed seats. Though she does seem a tiny little bit less angry on the way back, which makes perfect sense, of course. XD

I remember being introduced to Rockwell in maybe the 5th grade. I can recall being turned off by it. Today, I like his work. Maybe because I've come to value American culture!

David Mann is really lame and terribly kitschy, though, and worst of all, he's paying zero attention to jackets.

For some reason, I got a yearning for old style faded blue jeans .
Went to the malls with no luck !

Finally found a pair at a thrift shop.
Good thing my craving wasn’t for a chicken or cow !

A little sentimentality - hmm - but this fellow piles it on. I'm put off by the mawkishness. But the great thing is we are free to all have our own tastes. ;)

In the mid-70's, at around age 14-15, I had this exact magazine pullout mounted on the wall of my bedroom, right next to Farrah Fawcett. My mother didn't approve of either.
