Not so much a guilty pleasure as Fedora Lounge heresy.
"I don't own a single piece of denim."

I'm not sure why this would be considered heresy on a forum devoted to an era in which denim clothing was generally considered to be nothing more than work wear. If you're curious, maybe we can take up a collection to buy a pair or two of Levi Strauss' fine 501 jeans and send them to you so that you can experience them in all their James Dean/Rebel Without a Cause glory.

⇧ Many in the era shunned denim, but as you noted, it was also embraced as basic work wear ('cause it made sense, not 'cause it was stylish) and by the aborning teenage angst movement. That said, there are pictures of teenagers - not seeming in rebellion mode - wearing denim going back to, at least, the 30s.

I have to confess that I really enjoy watching Animaniacs, and Ren and Stimpy. As to the latter, one of my favorite episodes (Anthony bears an astonishing resemblance to my oldest son, when he was little):

I enjoyed Ren and Stimpy when it was still being produced by John Kricfalusi and Spümcø, but it lost it's lustre after Nickelodeon's hostile takeover in '92 and their efforts to "soften" the humor.

Sure why not? Your supposition might be true for OTHER sections of the lounge but not here. The question is... do you own any leather jackets? Hideously expensive leather jackets, vintage watches, sumthin' passed down from your great granddaddy... etc... you know ... something "obsessive"... But we here in the M.P. we're a loving and forgiving lot ('cept mebbe for this thread here) and we welcome all... Hell they even let ME in!

It started as a conspiratorial pleasure enjoyed with my son- behind my wife's back. My wife found the series to be "gross," particularly one episode where after losing all of his teeth to dental neglect, Ren began ripping out the nerve endings of his teeth for a Nerve Ending Fairy, who would leave cash so that he could buy new teeth. Some moms have no sense of humor, so then it's up to dad to make things right.

If we're confessing to the small screen, I'm a huge fan of Powerpuff Girls. It's every bit a satire of pop culture, but not in a sarcastic or smarmy way. That's not easy to do.

Alright, think this is the first time saying this here, but I'm an adult fan of My Little Pony, otherwise known as a Brony. Love the show. The characters are adorable and well written. They're not girly stereotypes having tea parties and that sort of junk.

Another of mine is Roland Emmerich movies. They're great B-movies, and always fun.

Being a baby boomer, the 1960's were the years of my youth. There was one fad that I would have probably signed up to, had I not been in hospital recovering from a serious fracture. At the time 501 Originals were: "de rigueur." But the fashion gods dictated that being originals, they wouldn't be original if they were pre-shrunk, so the kids would buy them oversize, then wear them, sitting for hours on end, in a bath tub of water, in order for the jeans to shrink to size.
During my recuperation I was instructed to swim a great deal. I could never work out why a lot of young guys, at the public swimming pool, had a slightly blue-ish tinge to their legs. They came to the swimming baths in the hope that the chlorine in the water would bleach the dye off their legs. I tell you, the things we did for fashion.

Never should have fired John K. Delays and cost overruns, okay, not the best, but it died after he was gone (back to Ottawa...).

Never in the history of recorded media has a program so... twisted, so perverted and strange been released for public consumption. It is this courts opinion that "Spumco" is merely a front for an alien menace bent on the destruction of mankind. What rational human being or even one completely soaked in drugs and alcohol could come up with...

This might be a long post.

I am guilty of enjoying many pleasures, some of which I will keep private. But most are similar to the ones already confessed. Old B-movies can be wonderful but some can just be a little too talky. I love some serials, even the later ones. One of the things about serials is that one episode is just about my attention span. I still enjoy some of the old Saturday morning cartoons or puppet shows. Some bring back more memories than others, either of the times or of the show itself. "Fireball XL5" is one such show and it was only on for one season. I also love the old Jungle Jim movie series and the westerns that had interesting sidekicks, no matter who the hero was. Al St. John (Fuzzy) is probably my favorite still.

I hardly watch any television these days at all but my wife loves British TV. Personally I can't understand the dialogue and, anyway, I don't have the time to sit and watch a full episode of a British murder mystery. When my son was still at home, he liked the A-Team and Knight Rider as well as the Simpsons. The Simpsons take religion more seriously than any other program on television. I also liked Animaniacs, especially the episodes with retired cartoon characters.

Music-wise, these days I especially enjoy German and Slovenian folk and schlager music, particularly the young girl groups like Polka Mädels. I understand they've just broken up, too. And everyone here at work knows I like jodeln/yodeling.

This may put me over the top but I enjoy car crash videos on YouTube. That's a real guilty pleasure.

Then there are all the forums I read and participate in, like this one. This one is the nicest.

I think "Beavis and Butt-Head" is the most incisive comedy to come out of the 1990s. I never missed it when it was on.

I watched this in college. Drinking beer and watching Beavis and Butthead tear into terrible music videos was fine entertainment at the time.

Hogan's Heroes. Love every single episode.

Britcoms. Are You Being Served?, As Time Goes By, Keeping Up Appearances, 'Allo, 'Allo...I watched these on PBS growing up and still love them.

Poldark. It's sappy and romantic and I ADORE it.

One of my favorite guilty pleasures just had its fourth-season premiere this week, the show "Younger." It's a big ball of Millennial cheese (with a dash of Hipster nonsense blended in) and I don't care - we love its fun 22 minutes. Also, the publisher's office tower at the center of the story is the same NYC office building that I worked in for years.

But that's not the reason we love it - it's the silly but engaging story with fun (kinda believable) characters. Also, the speed of the story - you might or might not like it, but it doesn't give you time to get bored.
