"gold" has no right being a shoe color unless one is has super powers to speak of, and "cardinal"... cant we just call it "red"?

I was looking at this just earlier today on the A.E. official website. I was wondering where the color "pink" was on the options list, for those more inclined to be "dainty"? LOL!

which of those color combos are really wearable without looking goofy?
I could see wearing all of them; some with tailored clothing (suits and sportcoat/trouser combos) and some, probably most, with casual resort type apparel. But then, I have a rather extensive collection of colorful loafers and espadrilles so it wouldn't be that big a leap for me.

Yes! After all, spectators are spring/summer shoes meant to be worn with sportswear. Navy & white specs with tan welt? Yes, please!

I just sent email to Edmonds about delivery. Lets see what will answer be. I'm not going to call CEO about that :D that would be bit overkill.

Not sure what time frame the additional sending time for Finland would be, but I did a "build your shoe" on the A.E. site and it left me with the opinion that if I had submitted the order yesterday, the shoes would be done by sometime later in the month of March.

It is a not really a bad deal in all honesty for paying $200.00 for shoes that you can pick out different colors for the shoes.

I am still dubious about what one can really get for a MTO shoe for $200. Is it a goodyear welted model? If so, this is actually a pretty excellent deal.

It is goodyear welted, however it is an unlined shoe.

how do you know it's a goodyear welted shoe? that "welt" is no indication it is an actual part of the construction.

I am wondering because on the same page of the AE site, they have the McAllister available to "customize", and that model is $350 (75% more than this special). This "special" shoe is actually a McAllister, but with an exposed "welt strip" and a choice of colors.

I got answer, nice that they reply quickly but if answer is "it should work, please call our online help for additional assistance". Well I won't, tried again with customs shoe and Bongo cannot deliver it, tried again with non custom shoe and everything worked fine. Except that 335$ shoe got deliver fee (naturally) and additional 142$ worth of duties and fees. Even I could order those shoes additional 100+ bucks would be too much (and when those would arrive here I'd have to pay roughly 30% more taxes).

199 buck shoe would be nearly 400$ shoes before taxes to me. Living in old world can be expensive If I come accross a deal in "new world".

I hear you. Living in Denmark, I face the exact same problems. If there only were a brick and mortar dealer that I could go to, or at least an online store inside the EU.

Sorry to hear, but weren't you aware of this before you contacted AE?

Ebay.de has nice inventory once in a while too and after this episode I like it more :) good prices for us Europeans as it leaves out customs and fees since it is in Europe already.

Geez, that is bad news they want to charge all that extra for a pair of shoes! Wonder what it would be if someone made the purchase for you in the US and then just shipped them to you?
