All original STAR SPORTSWEAR 55J14 G-1 Leather Flight Jacket
Contract N383S-39943 circa 1949-51
Size 40 (large 40?)

£750 plus postage PPFF

*MINT* ALL ORIGINAL, CLEAN & in remarkable condition.
Nothing needs doing. NOTHING!
There are no holes from removed patches, no name tags or 'nasty' ghost stitching.
No odours.

No cleaning, no conditioning, no detailing, no replacing any parts required.

Collectible AND wearable as your day to day flight jacket.
This jacket is a rare and exceptional buy in this condition.

I have two of this exact same contract, same size. The other has pilot history, so Im keeping that one.

LEATHER - Superb condition. Leather is supple, tons of grain, clean, conditioned and like a second skin.
You don't find goatskin like this anymore. Some light scuffing on the shoulders consummate with age.
MOUTON FUR COLLAR - In perfect vintage original condition. Soft & clean. No bald spots.
LINING - In excellent original condition. No tears or worn areas.
KNITS - Original and in excellent condition. Still taught and fresh with a lifetime of wear still in them.
ZIPPER - Blackened brass Conmar zipper is in prefect working order. Zips up smoothly. Stunning.
SILVER U.S.N. STENCIL on the back of the collar is clearly visible.
BUTTONS & SNAPS - All original, intact & work as intended.

Measurements taken taught & approximate:
Shoulders - 18.75" - 19"
Pit to pit front - 23"
Sleeves 26"
Back length - 26.25" - 26.5"
Model (me) is 5'10, 75kgs, 40" chest - Jacket fits comfortably with good lengths.
I usually wear size 40 or 42 G-1 depending on the contract (they are not all the same) or size 42 USAAF A-2.

Replied. Jacket is sold unfortunately.

I do have a WWII AN6552 size 42 I may be willing to part with.
Having some issues with the zipper (all original). I think the puller needs adjusting, the slider either needs closing up or opening up a bit, but I dont have the tools or experience.

Yes, London.
Its a WWII AN6552 Size 42, these were 1944 post M-422A, in-line with the AN-J-3 contracts.
Last of the WWII stuff.
Considering the condition and size, Id want £600 plus postage PPFF

The jacket is all original except the cuffs are replacements.
And as I mentioned the zipper doesnt close, but its all intact, just needs an experienced person with the right tools to adjust the puller, so it engages the teeth.
One or two moth holes in the knit, can be darned.
Right pocket missing a button, easily replaced.

Leather is great. No ghost stitch holes from removed patches or name tags
Original label and liner are great.
Yellow USN on collar is clearly visible.
Mouton collar is a bit 'salty', but clean & soft, original and in overall good condition
Otherwise clean and tidy, needs a condition.
A bit of tlc and it's a banger.

Im 5'10 75kgs, 40" chest, usually wear a 42 and this jacket fits perfectly.

Wasn't planning on selling this, its a rare jacket in this vintage, this condition & size.

If you are still interested, please pm me and Ill take some photos and measurements.
