It's a quality purchase. Don't skimp on shoes. When I was teenager, my friends Dad related a story that his Dad told him; You're on your feet all day. Save up a day's pay and buy whatever shoes that Days Pay can buy". I'd have to check on the Alden Website, but I think their chukkas are recraftable.
On this site, they're $398, doesn't say if they're recraftable, but by the picture it looks like a Goodyear Welt.
Thanks for the comments guys. Their ckukkas do have Goodyear welts and from what I found is the last they are using for this model fits about one half size large. So people are saying order one half size smaller than you normally wear.
I would almost take a trip out there, you could atleast try on numerous different pairs on different lasts and determine your sizing a little better for future purchases. I did this when I visited NYC; I went to a few different stores and tried on shoes to help determine size and it will help when I get ready to buy any.
The last is about the look. The shoes may fit but they may not look good if you picked the wrong last. Definitely have to try before buying as they provide different width as well as size.
